This Is Wonderful Magnesium!
I want to set the record straight about this product because I see a lot of negative reviews predicated upon the flavor. First of all, not everything thats good for you is going to taste good. Thats just part of life. Second - this stuff really doesn't even taste that bad. In fact, Magnesium Chloride tastes worse. No magnesium product in powder form that you add to water tastes good folks, unless its mixed with a bunch of artificial flavorings - which you DON'T want. The only way to bypass the flavor is to take it in capsules, which in my opinion: is not only much more expensive than buying a in bulk powdered form, but not as effective. Magnesium seems to work best when its mixed and dissolved in liquid. I take a teaspoon of this in my coffee in the morning, and an additional teaspoon at night. I don't complain about the taste, because I know its good for me! Wouldn't you rather do whats best for your health, even if it is mildly uncomfortable? I know I would! We live in a society where we are driven by our tastes buds and not our bodies dire need for real nutrition. As a culture we often neglect health foods because of how our palate has been programmed for nothing but junk. This magnesium tastes strongly like the amino acid glycine in its isolated form. Aside from the strong glycine flavor which is very sweet, there is a very slight fishy smell and flavor. This smell and flavor is not an indicator that this is a bad or rancid product. This is just what pure magnesium bisglycinate tastes and smells like! I love this stuff and it makes me feel amazing and helps with my anxiety and memory. I actually enjoy the flavor! If you find that this powder clumps in your liquid, which it will, I recommend the following: Buy a battery powered handle coffee frother. Its a little device that whips coffee at a high velocity. This will allow you to stir not only magnesium properly into your liquid solution - but any other hard to stir herbal or supplement powders. I give this a 5 out of 5 stars. If you have a weak stomach, I can see how you would not like this. Personally, I come from the perspective of " If its good for me and will help me have a bigger life - who cares what it tastes like. " You can easily slam a teaspoon of this stuff down. Compared to other magnesium products this is not only incredibly cost effective ( under 10 bucks ) but it works wonderfully and I feel like this stuff absorbs much better than the magnesium oxides, citrates, carbonates, malates, etc. The only other form of magnesium that I find works as well is Food grade magnesium chloride. A+ Product. I love the NOW foods brand. They deliver quality products and low prices.

Yes, Terrible Taste, but the BEST Mag on the Market!
1. Albion (the real manufacturer of the core magnesium in this product) makes the most bioavailable form available! This is an excellent product! 2. There are other supplement companies that use Albion, BUT NOW Foods only adds citric acid! THAT’S IT! One ingredient!! I applaud and praise NOW Foods for that! Too many other companies add inactive ingredients that are super bad for gut health, like Silicon dioxide (silica), maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, calcium laurate (probably the least offensive), etc.. All of these additives disrupt gut health and the microbiome in some way, shape or form. And SO MANY supplement companies use these fillers/anti-caking ingredients in their products! Don’t take my word for it! Google the ingredient + gut health for yourself! All of the ingredients I mentioned have newer research papers on their effects on the gut. 3. Most things that are truly healthy for you DON’T TASTE LIKE CANDY OR FAKE FRUIT JUICE! Too many people have been pampered by societal norms and the overconsumption of creature comforts! Please stop your complaining. This product tastes like magnesium, because it IS MAGNESIUM! Take it because it’s an essential mineral and your body/300 enzymatic functions will thank you!! NOW Foods, please, please, PLEASE don’t ever change this formula to appease the pampered princess people! If you want to make an additional formula for the complainers, feel free, but PLEASE don’t change this one! I relinquish my soapbox. ;-P

Tastes perfectly fine!!!
For years, I purchased magnesium bisglycinate from Thorne, but when they doubled the price of their already very expensive product and cut the amount of product to what looked to me like more than half, I turned to Now foods. Before purchasing their magnesium, I read the reviews, and the reviews were full of people talking about how terrible this stuff tastes – one of the more colorful descriptions was that it taste like baking soda with Asian fish sauce. But please let me assure you it doesn't taste that bad! There's a very mild aftertaste a bit like the taste of Stevia, but it is no big deal. Please don't pass up.an excellent, effective – It ends my heart palpitations, and helps me sleep – and extremely reasonably priced product – $14 for 8 ounces as compared to Thorne's 6.5 ounces for $50 – because of concerns about the taste!

Taste awful - compared to Thorne.
I don’t know what it is - but I ran out of my Thorne brand and got this as a backup. Thorne I can literally just drink it with water. This one though? The tiniest amount - no way I can even drink it. I even tried putting it in a small smoothie- which I don’t like drinking a smoothie before bed. It was SO strong, that it ruined the smoothie. I don’t know what it is - but like I said - the Thorne version was almost tasteless. This one was awful.

Good quality bad taste
I bought this based on cleanliness and price. I do believe this helps me sleep and feel a little better physically. I had to take one star off because the taste is awful. The first time I tried it in water I had to dump it out and I'm not weak stomached. It's more tolerable in a protein shake or something heavily flavored BUT it started making my shakes clump up in a way that's hard to describe and would have to keep stirring it. I will finish the bottle but probably try a capsule next time.

Good quality and price, tastes gross so put it in pills yourself
Tastes gross but I put it in gelatin capsules and make my own pills. You get more supplement for the cost if you make your own pills.

Helps, but Foul
Purchased this to help me sleep. I had been using the version from Thorne, and decided to give this a shot to save some money. It definitely helped me sleep! But MAN! It tastes FOUL and nothing I added to it eased the flavor.

Works, here's how to help with taste.
This is not the worst tasting thing I've ever ingested, but it's in the top five. If you haven't ordered yet, and want an approximation of the taste, do the following. Get about an ounce of water, and dissolve a teaspoon of baking soda in it. Then, if you have it, add two or three drops of Asian fish sauce, and mix. That's about what it tastes like to me, it also leaves a slight metallic aftertaste, although not every time. It's slightly sweet too, but that doesn't help much! To make it go down easier, here's a trick - a big component of taste is smell, so if you can use the old-fashioned trick of holding your nose while you drink it, that will kill alot of the taste, and if you can mix it into just enough water to get it all down in one gulp, it make it almost painless. Citrus flavors mixed in help, especially a lemonade flavor, but I can't see anything masking its flavor completely. It has helped me with my sleep, my brain fog (particularly upon rising in the morn), I breathe easier and deeper, and I don't seem to be as cold this winter as I have been the past two winters. My mood seems to be better as well, I don't get 'down' as easily. As far as dosing, I started slow, with one quarter of the recommended dose, then added a quarter every day to get up to the recommended two teaspoons worth. I don't experience any, or very minimal, gastrointestinal effects. Good stuff! You can do it!
