Stand on a Street Corner; do whateer it takes to GET this book on the Word!
I purchased tis book for my son, a recovering alcoholic as was his deceased father. However as I began reading it I became addicted to the words and the layout as well as the inspiriation and claritydelivered. By the time I finally was able to part with it and mail it to my son (sober 2 years) it was no longer in that pristine nice smell, crisp page condition.Imagine my surprise when a few weeks later my son sent me a kindle. The FIRST book I donwloaded was this bible. In sunday school, I am always the one with the exellent reference poinst to make re: a particular passage. I imagine folks would be surprised to discover i am enthralling them with words form a recovery bible.I think the average American - even if not addicted- can relate to this bible because we all struggle with our own form of addictions. As our government is merely a microcosm of the greater society- our country's leadership is also crazy with addiction and as such needs to read this bible every night before bed in the our nations' capitol. Our leaders need GOD!The people who have assigned themselves the duties and responsibilities of God need to go back to this bible, read the part about the Tower of Babylon and think about the Common Core curriculum being forced down our throats by a bunch of arrogant self-righteous utopian communists whose only aim is to see our country crumble.I am not even an alcoholic or drug addict and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this must-have one of a kind bible- even if you have to stand on a street corner and beg to get enough $ to buy it!!!Read it soon though before Common Core removes the ability to read from the public school child!

A God-Send For Insights Into Life And Healing
I started reading bibles in depth 3 years ago, and I have purchased just about every translation and study bible in print. I was looking for God, for healing, for insights into what it really means to be a Christian, how to find release from the bondage of addictions and idolatry of any sort, and how to grow spiritually.I purchased this bible in August 2002. Since then, I have found answers in it that no amount of personal or group bible study using other bibles, Christian radio, professional counseling by therapists or pastors, church attendance, or prayer have given me.Almost every page has foot-notes, devotionals, in-depth comments, which teach about addictions and how to gain freedom, details about the road to recovery, all within a Christ-centered framework using the 12 Alcoholics Anonymous steps. You can look up just about any life-experience topic in the excellently organized index/concordance in the back of the Bible, to focus on passages which help you understand who you are, what you do, why you do it, and ways to gain release from whatever plagues you, and get closer to God in order to gain peace and restoration.I have abandoned all my other bibles in favor of this one. I would urge anyone who needs help in self-control, discipline, overcoming compulsive/obsessive behaviors, to dig into the Life Recovery Bible. You will be blessed abundantly. If you simply want to grow spiritually, and you have no addictions, this bible is also for you.Every day I can look forward to new insights and teachings in this bible, which I can apply immediately to my life. The text is easy to read for such a large Bible, the NLT translation is easy to understand, and the footnotes and other devotionals do not interfere with my enjoyment of every page. There is another Life Recovery Bible in the NIV (New International Version), which in my opinion is not nearly as good as this one.

KIndle (and hardcover review)
I bought this bible to aid me in recovery. It is amazing. I never really got 'the bible' before, especially the old testament. The notes and devotions this book has ties every chapter to the 12 steps in a way that even my overly intellectual brain could understand. It also presents a 'big picture overview' with themes for each book which is very helpful. It made a huge difference in my ability to understand God as my higher power. It gave me the connection to scripture i had never found before.I liked it so much, I bought the workbook and journal that go along with it.That being said, I found the hardcover to be a bit difficult to use, small print, my old eyes, not knowing where to find the books, having to flip back and forth etc. I decided to try the kindle version, though I have had some bad experiences with non-fiction kindle books, especially the zooming feature which I find practically useless for reading charts and diagrams. This book was made just for the kindle. Everything is easy to find, clicking on the verse number that is underscored takes you the exact same notes as in the book, hyper-links to other passages make navigating the bible so simple. An alphabetical list of all the books makes finding anything super simple. All in all. a great book for those in recovery, especially those new to the bible, and made even easier by having it on my kindle.
