Good replacement for old garage contact
This is a good substitute for the old "floor mat" style magnetic contact that you had to mount at the bottom of the garage door and drill holes into the concrete. If you have seen metal sectional garage doors lately, you know that the old style magnet doesn't mount so easily on the top either -- new doors have interlocking edge profiles, and common manufacturers only sell "bottom" and "middles" -- there's no flat-edged "top" panel. Also there's rarely room near the edges at the bottom anymore because track roller braces are now reinforced and take up a lot of the space where you would have mounted the magnet on an old door. Thus this contact: don't know if there is a design patent on this model, but the price difference is well-deserved! One tricky bit if you've never seen these before: The arched edge of the mounting bracket is intended to *deform* and it should come to you with the top bolt unscrewed most of the way. If yours arrives already screwed-down, just unscrew it and pull the arch up a bit. Then you can hold both it and its (separate, interlocking) flat end with one hand while screwing down the bolt and the whole thing will compress against the track. Otherwise you'd need great hand strength to compress the two parts so the flat edge catches its tightest ridge -- or else a third hand to screw the bolt! Time will tell if the wide-gap magnet holds up, but the mounting could not be easier: screw the magnet to the door so it doesn't extend past the edge (no interference), then set the track clamp opposite it, and tighten its bolt. Done! You can mount it down near the auto-reverse sensor so it's near something else you generally try not to bump into, or above, just below the track curve -- as I did, so the foot-long armored cable runs directly to a wireless zone transmitter, giving that a high-up broadcast location.

Much better than floor style contacts
I used to use the floor mount style magnet for garage door installations, this works so much better. No more worries about water or physical damage to the unit and it is not obvious to the casual observer. Well built, looks like it will last a lifetime.

Worked fine until it didn't
This device worked just fine for a year or so, then the mag contact started sticking closed, which meant that the signal light I had installed kept on night and day. A good whack would open the contacts again, but that gets old. And as time goes on, I have to whack this thing too often. Sort of defeats the whole purpose.

Quit working after two weeks of use
I let this sit for two weeks while I finished running wire, then it worked fine for two weeks before shorting out (stuck closed). I contacted the seller (EmCline Sales, LLC) 32 days after receiving, and they said they couldn't replace it because they were out of stock, and wouldn't refund since it was two days past Amazon's 30-day requirement. So, make sure your seller has some sort of warranty beyond Amazon's return policy.

Exactly as Described; Easy to Install and Employ
I'm running two of these in series and connecting them to a relay which operates a beacon so I can tell if I've left either of my garage doors open. They were a cinch to install (probably the easiest installed components of my entire setup.) One of the two I received was defective, but the company quickly replaced it with another. No regrets, and would order again if needed.

Overhead Door Contacts
These are decent contacts, they don't really fit door tracks properly, mine barely lock into the 1st notch on the plate. They still hold but not the way they are designed to. I'm going to drill a hole in the track and put a truss head bolt through.

Great contact for newer garage doors
After using both I greatly prefer this style contact that clamps to the track over the flat contact that drills into the floor. I installed these right above the opener safety sensors to keep them out of the way. They do take a bit of force to clamp onto the track.
