Such a great game. I’ve owned this game for decades and now buying for the kids. This is easy to use as u just turn the pieces over and they can’t b lost unlike my full size version. Great for holidays too as compact. Thoroughly recommend

A very addictive game used to play this game 35 years ago .

I was so please with this I decided to write a review, which is a rare thing indeed. After reading many reviews which complained about the buttons falling off, I bought what was called a travel 'craft' kit. By this I had imagined with much amusement and cynicism that they- the manufacturer had tried to deal with their poorly made items i.e. which fell to pieces, by describing it as a 'craft set', i.e., such that you would have to expect to assemble it yourself given how many seem to turn up in bits o fall part. I had already taken the view that with some super glue- and frankly this sort of job pleases me- I could stick any loose pieces back together again. However none have come apart, and they were all in place when I bought the item. Compared to the size of a normal Othello board it is very compact. Introducing my 7-year-old to the game on a full sized board with so many loose pieces is a challenge in terms of keeping all the pieces in one place, as well as how often the board is bumped with little pieces being sent flying everywhere. Stopping the game part way through because if dinner is a piece of cake ( what rule did I beak there?) and lastly there's something very satisfying about how easy and quick it is to return the board to its original starting point -see the video. This contrasts with gathering all the counters together from full sized board. I have been a little bit severe with marking it down on value and quality. I'm sure it was made in China and it is made entirely of plastic I think, so ultimately it shouldn't have cost as much as it did I.m.o. I wouldn't have thought it would take more than one bad accident in being trodden on, to ruin it. But then if you made it of metal so that it could resist such abuse it would surely have to cost you several hundred pounds which is daft. So, yes well (enough) made, yes, an excellent starter version for teaching Othello, and as travel versions of full size board games this is a gem. One of the best games you could wish for- comparing for instance with travel Scrabble which is a nightmare. And if you do have a small electrical Phillips screwdriver and some super glue you can easily repair any displaced buttons providing you are there when they come loose. That said mine have all been solid which I was almost disappointed about as I'd expected to have to assemble it myself!

Good at home and for travelling. Fascinating strategy game for fighting one another in a good way. An online Othello game has only half a minute for the next move. Better real. A bit simpler than chess.

Haven't actually played on it yet as bought for a gift for my Granddaughter, however from what I can see it's a very neat design.... and no more lost pieces!

ok im gonna show my age here but i owned othello when it first came out in the uk many years ago. The board was almost identical to this one except for one crucial thing! The original had 2 clear plastic covers that spun over the chips when they were lined up at the side. So you could put the game away with all the chips/coins safely locked to the board with a flip over plastic cover. The game itself is the same . Tactile and really enjoyable . I love everything about this board , just the fact i know it used to be a better designed and less annoying set. Now when you put it away the chips are lose and kids tend to tip the lot in the box with things flying everywhere !! You can tell them 100 times they still seem to think iy will be fine tipping into a box when theyre finished ! Even adults new to it do a similar thing. When i know even as a little kid , i used to put all the chips back in the rows either side and snap shut the plastic top. We didnt even need a box it was self contained. So yeah. For me when i opened the box i was shocked it was just all loose .and it just felt cheap. A real shame, no doubt a decision to save money maximise profit. Problem is they didnt pass on their savings to the customer. Theres another version of othello on amazon that has a clever rotating chips idea. No loose pieces. Less money to buy. I avoided because this board looked like the original i knew and loved . Problem is it wasnt the same. I wish id bought the other one now. I can see me losing these chips fairly quick unless i can make evreryone remember to put everything in a bag or something. Still the games the same !! Once you start playing ill say this , it works tactile wise. It feels a bit cheap but it still manages to feel good to play. Luckily othello is an epic game. I certainly would recommend the game itself to almost anyone even very young .

Juego de estrategia muy adecuado a partir de 8 años. Es genial que las piezas vengan encajables, pero hay alguna que va más suelta que otra y se voltea sin necesidad, lo que ocasiona a veces algún que otro problemilla en el juego. Lo recomiento

I enjoyed playing this game, having played it when I was at school. I also loved introducing it to my family and teaching them how to play it.
