NAAFIE HTC Instruments Non-Contact Laser Voltage Tester, Battery Powered, Black and Yellow

This AC voltage detector works on the principle of AC voltage picked by its antenna which is then magnified by transistors to thousands of times for the detector to work. It works fine for detecting live wire, powered switches and plugs etc. Also detects faulty devices or devices without ground protection, which has leakage AC voltage over body like table fan or table lamp with metallic body and with two prong plugs, but fans and appliances with 3 core grounded wire and 3 pin plugs did not show any leakage voltage. It has even detected line voltage in mobile charger output port which is supposed to be isolated from mains voltage. This detector only detects AC and does not detect DC because of the science behind its working principle. So it detected poor isolation design in mobile phone chargers which supplies 3-4 volts DC as well as allows AC line voltage to pass through, this is true for nearly all mobile chargers and low quality adapters found in wireless routers, mini sewing machines, adapters for radios, cd players etc. But laptop adapters have very good isolation from mains voltage and no AC voltage was detected in the output.The detector has its limitation by default, like it does not detect DC even lethal voltages, It does not detect wire insulation leakage if it is wet, it does not detect potential inside shielded wires etc.The built quality is good, compared to low cost detectors. But I think it is costly compared to others. At 200/- you can get a functional detector without all bells and whistles which it has. The additional features like enhanced sensitivity and display with voltage gradient is redundant as per my consideration. A buzzer and a blinking red LED is sufficient for such device.But reliability is also another parameter which should be taken into consideration for a line testing device. It has CAT-III rating which is fairly good for mains testing device. A low cost device might be unreliable and an erroneous reading might lead to serious accident causing fatal injury.

A bit over priced.If you are buying this for checking core wires (2/3..) doesn't suitable to find out neutral wire that is only problem. Other wise all goodYou can't check any wire inside a wall 100% sure.You can check on switch boards that is all.

Good. It works. Very difficult to say more about this product as I have no test equipment to determine if it is accurate or how it works around dangerous voltages.On the positive side - built well, and can't find any fault with it. For a casual user it is a good tool.Most important - I don't risk a shock like with the cheap neon tester - that is the KEY FACTOR with this tester. Of course, we should be careful around high voltage wires and mains switches because our electricians will leave live wires jutting out or live wires touching metal. I think equivalent branded devices cost nearly 60 to 70 USD on Amazon dot com.Delivery was quick - thanks Amazon logistics.Seller sent me a new, good piece, so thanks.

Essential product for every home, when you are working near high voltage.Initial I could not start the device and was disappointed, Later found a plastic wrapper on battery which was not allowing proper function.Removed the battery plastic wrapper, and all worked well.

The media could not be loaded. Very poor quality product . In the description its made in india and actual fact is its made in china . The product stopped working on the first day itself .The switch will not come back if you press little hard . The back cap is made up of extream low quality .
