Ostrich The Heavy-Duty Backpacker, Portable Beach Chair w/Face Hole, Adjustable Lounge Chair w/Face Opening, Cup Holder, & 325lb Capacity, Blue Stripe

I was looking for an attractive, compact beach chair with backpack straps and a cup holder. I love that these have the added benefit of the face hole, which makes sunbathing face down especially comfortable! They are stable, easy to set up, and made of thick fabric. They have functioned nicely for the one season I have used them.

I took this to the beach yesterday and it was nice and study vs. other chairs where you sink into them. I'm 5'3" and I loved the lay flat feature. I was worried about my legs hanging off but it was completely comfortable especially with the arm holes. The bottom of the chair hit right above my knees so only my feet were in the sand. I was surprised by how comfortable it was. I only have 2 complaints: 1) I have a very small head so the face hole was a little large for me. I just scooted up a bit more so my forehead could lay against it. 2) It doesn't come up enough for you to sit straight up if you want to, I have back issues and sometimes prefer to sit straight vs. incline. I may find a lumbar pillow to help with this. This may also be due to me being short and the back of the chair being taller than me. If you are a taller person it might feel straighter for you. This chair is lightweight and easy to carry. The extra velcro straps on the sides to hold the chair in place and keep it from opening up are a nice touch as well.

The Ostrich Beach Chair is a great chair for the money, I bought two for my girlfriend and myself primarily because of their weight limits (I weight about 240lb’s) and wanted something that would last more than 1-2 summers. These chairs fit the bill perfectly; they are nice and wide very comfortable and have the backpack straps that make walking to the beach much easier. They also sit nice and low to the ground (unlike the Tommy Bahamas chairs) something I personally was looking for in a beach chair. One note, we bought a red one and a blue one, the Red one showed up with some of the stitching coming off, at first I was going to just deal with it but after 2 uses both backpack straps broke off, I sent it back (Amazon Prime) and the replacement was perfect! I think from seeing some of the other reviews the red ones at times had some bad stitching done at the factory. Needless to say after our red one was replaced we are very happy with the chairs and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nicer beach chair for their summers!

When these chairs first arrived I was so excited. They really are comfortable and I love how I could go prone laying face down and be flat on the beach. The face cradle is comfortable and I was thrilled with how they reclined. But with just one use, the first strap broke on one chair. I thought maybe it was just poor stitching on the single chair and blew it off but then it happened on another chair and another. And then the arm rests themselves started slipping. At this point all four of the chairs are broken and I will need to replace them all. If sent replacements I would try them again because they really are comfortable. Otherwise I’m going to try Tommy Bahama/another brand for replacements. In the photos you can see where on one side, the canvas strap sometimes just pull right off and on the other side sometimes they break and then you have to tie them to the plastic as opposed to having them so non-. In the end of the fourth church there’s only one of the eighth straps left that works. One we just threw away because the arms were completely worthless — x2 we kept to lie flat but if you sit back, they fold down and won’t hold your weigh - and the. one of the x4 will still hold up you if you lean back on it and want to sit upright. :( Again, heavy chairs, comfie but the steps we received all malfunctioned or broke within weeks / months.

Cheaper quality for what you pay, but overall a good chair. Reclining is difficult and feels flimsy. Carrying is awkward. I love the arm holes, but I would go back and get the one with the whole body reclining option if I could, it hurts my legs and back to lay on my stomach on this one. Definitely not great for anyone over 150 lbs. thin fabric and creaks a lot.

I’m headed to the beach !!! Atlantic side . I love the chair . Very well made , maybe heavier than I would like but it’s because it’s well made and sturdy . I will be able to handle the weight with the nice straps to carry it to the beach with . This will be perfect fo me , a total beach bum . Going to the beach now to relax in this nice beach chair .the chair sits very low not crazy about that . A bit hard to get out of , I also wish it had a holder in one side for book . It does have a cup holder but a yeti will not fit i use a yeti all the time . Could be a bit larger for beach drink holders , usually big. I am able to edit this now after my winter in Florida . I’m changing my mind on the review . This chair is actually a bit heavy . This chair is low to the ground and very hard to get out of . I’m pretty limber yet, I do not like getting out of this chair. The face area is okay if you can lay on your tummy and read . I prefer sitting up and reading . The cup holder does not hold a yeti , and could be deeper .

The concept of the Ostrich chairs is genius. Being able to lay on your stomach and tan your back is something I normally can't do here in S Florida due to the sand being so hot. So for that reason, this is the 3rd Ostrich chair I've purchased over the past few years. The chair is comfortable when lying on your stomach, but not comfortable in sitting position due to being so close to the ground. The metal used is far too thin and ends up bending after some use, rendering the chair unusable. (Past 2 Ostrich chairs). The "backpack" straps are too short to fit over anyone's shoulders even when adjusted as far as possible. In conclusion, I recommend it only IF you don't mind carrying it by the arm of the chair and don't intend for it to last more than a season, and only need it for lying face down. If you don't need to tan your back, buy another brand. For me, it has been worth it because of the face hole feature, but it is very inconvenient to carry. If there were another company that sold a beach chair with a face hole, I would most definitely never buy an Ostrich chair again.
