It held my sole on. It also spread more than expected so I had a bunch of goo running out of repaired area. Otherwise good glue.

Desperately trying to salvage my fave sneakers (three pairs) with this was somewhat successful, though I don't think I put enough layers on. That being said, what I did put on lasted quite awhile. I'll have to get another tube and do it again down the line. You'll have to use quite a lot to make it a permanent repair on the bottom of an entire shoe, but it would probably last a long time.
