Who says sequels aren't to par with the original?!

I have read and thoroughly enjoyed the first edition of Hoodoo & Conjure Quarterly: A Journal of the Magickal Arts with a Special Focus on New Orleans Voodoo, Hoodoo, Folk Magic and Folklore so naturally I couldn't wait for the second issue. Well the wait was well worth it. I have read many books on the subject and have found unprecedented lore revealed in this second issue of Hoodoo & Conjure Quarterly. The illustrations, instruction and resources presented in this irreplaceable periodical have won me over. The contributors are native to the craft they present in this quarterly and speak from many years of experience. I have found their council and lore invaluable. This hearty and astheticly mind blowing periodical covers topics such as home protections, construction and enchantment of "gris-gris", construction of a "crossroads of power" altar, spirit dolls and so much more! If you have any interest for the rich and powerful lore of Hoodoo and Conjure and wish to hear it from the lips of those born and raised in its mysteries, I would strongly suggest getting issue 1 and 2 of Hoodoo & Conjure Quarterly!

A quarterly too huge and informative to be called a magazine....

I am a newcomer to Hoodoo, and found this series of magazines to be both entertaining and informative. The historical aspects of the magazine show the important roots of this ancestral tradition, not shying away from issues of slavery and racism faced by so many of its bearers. Key concepts are carefully explained, fascinating people--from Marie Laveau to modern Mojo Men--and magick is discussed in a practical, accessible manner. I highly recommend this series for anyone who wants to learn about this fascinating American magickal and spiritual tradition.

Great publication

I had the first and was thrilled to come across the second. I have a number of books written by Ms. Alvarado and have loved them all.

Amazed!!! This, Is Only The Second Edition Too

I am so amazed... I have the first edition of HCQ and was very happy with this gem. Now, the second edition of HCQ has made it home to me. I have to say this is not your typical magazine. I actually feel that this is more of a book filled with short stories from people who are keeping alive the folk traditions they were taught. The beauty of this magazine is you get a glimpse into various religious backgrounds from people. I also love how after reading an article you are referenced to get more info from either the person who wrote the article, website or other reading material. The contributers to this wonderfully artistic magazine don't make me feel like where do I go from here. Everyone has an opinion and mine is this magazine is truly ahead of their time when it comes to putting a magazine together truly for their readers. They ask what we'd like to see and they deliver... The article on Red Brick Dust was amazing and thank you for hearing my voice as well as others...Blessings to you all and may you who are reading my review come to the same conclusion that this magazine is truly here for their readers...
