Bad Kitty Drawn to Trouble (paperback black-and-white edition)

Bad Kitty is back! But, this time, she’s not alone! Her creator, Nick Bruel, is right in the plot! With the (unwilling) help of Kitty, Mr. Bruel tells us readers how to write a good story . The reader learns about protagonists, setting, plot, conflict, foreshadowing and much more in a fun-filled way. The is that Kitty needs to go on a diet of turnips, because she’s gained a LOT of weight recently (thanks to Mr. Bruel and his trusty paint brush). But, the thing is, Kitty doesn’t even LIKE turnips. And, Puppy is eating all of her food. Plus, the giant octopuses outside the house (generously provided by Mr. Bruel) keep Kitty from running away.This is a hilarious addition to the Bad Kitty series. In fact, I think this is my new favorite (sorry Bad Kitty vs. Uncle Murray) because of all the information it gives about writing a book. Mr. Bruel’s humor is awesome. I love that the antagonist in the story is a turnip. :) Mr. Bruel wrote a great book that teaches kids all about writing and made it a totally enjoyable story. The idea of the author/illustrator and character interacting is very cool (even though Bad Kitty is NOT impressed by it). I like how Mr. Bruel adds comments from his editor, “Neal”, on little sticky notes “stuck” to the pages reminding him of things he shouldn’t be doing in the story. There is also a handy glossary in the back of the book with the definitions of the parts of the story Mr. Bruel goes over (and a recipe for roasted turnips hee hee :lol: ). I think kids of all ages will enjoy this book for the hilarious story and learn something along the way!

My 7 year old loves Bad Kitty and loves this book. I like that it explains how to write stories in a way kids will understand. Also goes though who to draw Bad Kitty.My 7 year old is able to read it to himself

My son started reading Bad Kitty books at the beginning of this year. He loved this book just as much as the rest. In this book you get to learn how to draw Bad Kitty which he loved. The author has done an amazing job of writing this series and keeping kids hooked. All of them have inspired a love of reading in a little boy who hates school. I can't say enough great things about the entire series. It's a must read for any kids from 1st to 3rd grade.I love that the book is easy enough for my 7yr old (1st Grader) to read on his own and only has to ask about a few words. This way he's not frustrated with stopping and starting the book so many times for me to help him and yet it challenges him to learn some new words as well.Keep them coming!

Of course, I love all of the Bad Kitty books and in Nick Bruel's latest book, Bad Kitty Drawn To Trouble, Nick Bruel shows his genius in storytelling once again! This book can be used as a tool to teach children about writing their own books, but it still draws the readers into the story like all of the other Bad Kitty books. I read this book aloud to my first and second grade students and they hung on every word! I also like the use of the zombies to keep the boy appeal strong. I have read Bad Kitty with my kindergarten through sixth grade students and all of them love Bad Kitty just as much! After reading this book aloud, I couldn't keep any of the Bad Kitty books on the bookshelves in our library! I hope Nick Bruel keeps them coming! Great job!

This was delivered yesterday and my daughter sat and read the book in about an hour. She loves reading, and is an advanced reader, but honestly not many things keep her still and focused as long as she is when reading one of the Bad Kitty books.I enjoy the series, myself, and the author's humor!

My son loves Bad Kitty books. Easy to read

I saw this on the shelf at the store and thought it looked cute, so I borrowed it from the library to check it out. Well, we ended up loving it so much that I had to buy a copy. My 8 year old son laughed so hard he cried - to his great surprise and confusion. He didn't know that was possible, as he'd never experienced it before! This is the first chapter book he ever read on his own, and he has since read it over and over, as well as every other Nick Bruel title we've been able to get our hands on.

My daughter loves these books

There's a famous Warner Brother's cartoon (called Duck Amuck) of Daffy Duck being played with by an unseen animator. He switches costumes and settings on poor Daffy, cuts off the sound, erases parts of him and draws in new, silly parts. This book does the same thing. Bad Kitty is at the mercy of Nick's pen and pencil. The author says its an homage to Duck Amuck, and describes the connection in the back of the book. My daughter had actually seen Duck Amuck and recognised it. She is a huge Bad Kitty fan, and really enjoyed that Mr. Bruel did the same thing with Kitty, as the results are hilarious. I think its one of the better Bad Kitty books to come out, since Uncle Murray (which will probably always be my daughter's favorite).

This is probably the best series I have every picked up for early readers and the first book to compel my child to read independently on her own. Its interesting, funny, easy to read and a lot of interesting facts covered in a fun way. This is the first book in the series that we have read and it my kid was so hooked she finished it herself in a day instead of waiting for me to read with her at bedtime over several nights. Highly recommended as a first chapter book.

What a blast! My 7 year old and I both followed the drawing instructions and howled with laughter at the results. We then proceeded to draw all the cats, puppy, and Uncle Murray with hilarious results. We love all the Bad Kitty books. Keep them coming Nick!
