Some details are a bit botched
I have this vision of making a particular Alice in Wonderland themed item.Instead of just printing out pictures to use in it, I wanted to make Alice & the Cheshire Cat out of resin to give them a bit more depth. So I was super excited when the mould arrived & it was clear that since the details are so fine I need to first paint them in with acrylic paint before using the resinBut the issue is that there is quite a bit you need to paint in & because some of it is so fine, it takes quite some time. Unfortunately, this means the other paint dries in the meantime & peals off.The first try was honestly the best, but the problem was I didn't realize the paint started to peal off & used blue resin, which then got under the paint. From then on it went from bad to super creepy, because in order to not have the paint peal, I ended up using too much of the skin coloured paint, resulting in Alice's face coming off & it turned more into Alice in Nightmareland than in Wonderland ...Unfortunately on top of things some things, like the eyes, are not properly detailed as they should. Meaning there are several silicone blobs on one eye for example, where they shouldn't be, making it extremely hard to have any detail there at all for the end result. And this also means it's not possible to paint the fine detail after the resin cured as the detail won't be there. As you can see the Cheshire Cat heads turned out just fine, both time, because the details are great.I thought I made the full Cheshire Cat as well. But apparently I didn'tBut yah, so far my Alices are the stuff nightmares are made of.Other than that, the mould is nice & I will keep trying to make the Alice that I want so that maybe one day my dream of finally making the project I ultimately want to do will become a reality.
