Why didn't I get a nice bit extension before?
Why paying this much for an extension makes sense for the thrifty tool buyer who uses extensions every day: I build loudspeakers, work on cars and dismantle heavily damaged antiques to build my own furniture. I have used the dewalt extensions with the sliding guide collar for over ten years, because that's what my father uses and I unconsciously adopted the practice. They are perfectly fine (I've only broken 1 out of perhaps a dozen from heavy abuse with an impact driver) and cheap but such designs add a second or so to every bit change, rising to seconds with tapered thin bits or greasy gloves. How many times have I changed bits? 10,000? 20,000? This saves a lot of time IF you use it a lot. It allows you to extend the quick release chuck on tight jobs where the stubby nature of modern 1/4 hex drivers obfuscates the fastener head without losing the convenience of a Milwaukee or similar chuck. As others have mentioned it may not hold up to impact use long term, but for drilling it's great. Considering leaving a 50mm on my smallest drill. On mine the sleeve seems to need 50-100 bit swaps to become smooth, generally a good indicator of tight production tolerances in my experience. If you write your own review please mention whether yours was the same way or not, it will help potential buyers assemble a few real world data points for tolerance/QC consistency from our reviews. The build quality seems excellent. The 100mm extension I got fits perfectly into the center hole of those klein 32 bit holders, sticking out a little on the hex end and compression fitting into the rubber on the quick release end. With a 4" screwdriver handle it's a lot of tool in a pocket. Highly recommend.

Quality product from Wera
I have a LOT of different types and sizes of bit holders. I used one of my friend's Rapidaptors and liked it so much that I got them in 3 different sizes. I didn't see it anywhere in the description, but this arrives as a 2-pack. The grip is positive and ejects the bit with a click when pulling. The tip of the Rabidaptor stays in the out position until a new bit is inserted. It locks the bit in place when inserting the new bit. It is very very smooth. The green and black tip rotate, so you can hold the tip while driving a screw. These work great in the Wera screwdrivers as well as other screw drivers or drill/drivers. They might seem pricey to some, but with 2 to a pack and how smooth they operate, they are worth it. There are markings on the side of the hex shank that indicate when it has been inserted into their screwdriver handles far enough. The second position is the correct position and is marked "OK" with an arrow on the shank.

Standard Rapidaptor, Universal Bit Holder 1/4"
As with any of the Wera products I have purchase, and I have purchased many of them. It is of the highest quality materials and workmanship. You would be hard pressed to find a higher quality and more functional product. As with any of their other size bit holders, very easy to use, setup for rapid bit exchanges, is literally a one handed operation with these. Have purchased several of these in different lengths and they are work horses. I do have to say though, Do not believe they are impact rated, don't remember but sure can find in description but I have never used it in an inpact driver.

Great adapter
Perfect for extending the reach of my Wera Kraftform 816 RA Bitholding Ratcheting Screwdriver. I highly recommend purchasing a Wera 05073220001 Tool Check 1 for all of the bits you may need to go along with it. The Rapidaptor works just like an impact drill. Just pull up the sleeve and the bit comes out. Place in the next bit and the sleeve goes back down and holds your bit in place!

Wera 889/4 R
Wera products are top quality tools, they are innovative, and in my opinion, they broke away from the stereotype copies of other manufactures. I purchased the Kraffrom Kompack 25 with pouch, the 813 R Bitholding Screwdriver, the 60 Tooth Ratcheting Bit-Holding Screwdriver Handle, Rapidaptor Bit Holders Model 897/4 R, 889/4 R, 887/4 R, 889/4/1 k and some SS bits of 1" and 3-1/2" and I am absolutely satisfy with their looks, innovation, functionality and are delightful to see, use and hold. Only one thing, Wera should put to sale also, the individual pouches; they are top quality and a must for some of us that did not purchase their combo kits.
