Wooden Inlaid Backgammon Set, Cascadia - with Acrylic Playing Pieces & Wooden Dice Cups, 17-inch Board

Very nice quality and aesthetically pleasing!

Very nice board. The wood is an excellent quality and the colors match well. Slight misalignment on the sides that is barely noticeable. For this price, I would say this is a very good deal and would buy again.

I received this backgammon board today, it arrived within a week after I placed my order. Nice. After unwrapping it, the overall appearance is beautiful. I put on my reading glasses and gave it a scrutinized view. Sure the notched slots for the hinges are slightly bigger than the hinge itself but they were seated straight and screws were flush. I’ve read a lot about this board warping. I’ve only had it a day so that is to be seen. More to come on that. The magnets work fine, although I found if the cups aren’t in the back corners but in the middle of the board, the lid will not close correctly because the cups are slightly larger. Strange but that’s the way it is. The veneers are thin but beautifully inlaid with no seams I could feel. I gave the 3 stars for thickness because the lid and bottom are about 3/16” the sides and bar are substantial. When the board is open it’s pretty impressive. The almost black wood inlays go great with the blonde pips. The mahogany background is pleasing rot the eye. Some people complained about the color of the darker checker pieces. I like the color, a dark salmon, the other pieces are a light cream. They’re a little light but they slide nicely on the board surface. I’m going to make my own out of Koa and Mango wood. The dice are ok, why one set is all red with white dots and the other set is white with red and black dots is beyond me. Personally I don’t like the rounded corners and the dice feel too light, so I’ll find some I prefer but if you use the cups, I guess it doesn’t matter. Speaking of the cups, nice one piece wood with felt on the inside bottom. One silly thing I do like is, that this is a dedicated backgammon board and there’s no checker board on the top and bottom. Purist😂 I can’t wait to play some games on this board to see how it holds up. I’ll let you know.

Great little board, everything fits well! I'm super happy there's no missing pieces, bad smells, broken parts, or major cosmetic damages. My nitpicky thing about the set: 1.) Screws were angled & weren't flush 2.) The exterior did have minor cosmetic scuffing on the exterior, just enough to diminish that pretty shine you see in the product photos 3.) Some smaller areas where the pieces store into have rough edges and may need a little home diy to get rid of them. It's not necessary but is nice texture wise. 4.) The hinges were set slightly to tight so opening it, the sides couldn't open enough to lay completely flat. Luckily this was a small enough issue that with my glasses experience of bending things into shape I was able to gently bend the edges outward until the hinges moved enough to allow a completely flat laying surface. **Important to note doing this wrong is super easy and will result in stripped screws, cracked wood or other damages! Overall it's a cute set and the sleek lines appeal to my style of playing so I don't have any buckles or handles to worry about. The smaller size is great for travel and tinier tables. Best of all, I have really nice wood polish and schedule of application for existing wood pieces already so upkeep is a breeze.

We are absolutely smitten with this set. Yes, it's hand made - can you imagine the hands that made it? The dice rolling cups even have the brand stamped onto the bottom of it. The checkers are a tad bit light but overall it's a pretty amazing set for a truly remarkable price - and looks good just sitting out on your ottoman or table. Will definitely be giving this as a gift this holiday season :0)

Let me start by saying that overall I've been a happy customer with my past YMI purchases. They offer generally hard to find items in the USA (like go stones) at good prices. However I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the backgammon set I received. Its very possible that its just a QC issue with mine, but here is the rundown: Pros: - Nice material overall, decent weight but not too bulky. - Patterns on the wood are pleasing and not much in the way of obvious knots, etc. - The deep contrast on the pip marks is nice. I'm not sure what the actual wood type is but its a very nice contrast in both color and grain and makes for a beautiful playing surface. Cons: - The actual playing area of the board is about 11.5-12 inches deep, not 13. I'm not sure if the standard way to measure backgammon boards counts the border thickness, but based on how this one is measured I wish they had a "piano lacquer" set at 15 inches. - The pieces are very plain, and two white pieces had some deep dents on one side. - Would have been nice if the dice cups were a bit deeper. They look nice but its too easy to shake die out of them by accident. - The dice are HORRIBLE (cheap, light, uneven, different sizes). DO NOT PLAY WITH THEM. As another reviewer said, there is no way these are rolling fair. Pick up some small dice separately or grab some extras from another game in your collection. - Board is glued together which is normally fine, but there are places in the seams where the glue is obviously visible because they used too much. I may end up taking an exact-o knife to it. Overall its an okay set but the accessories are lacking in comparison to the overall beauty of the wood and finish. The glue being visible along seams is unfortunate and I would have expected better. If you replace the dice and if the glue wasn't visible I'd be very happy with this purchase because there is nothing on its own that is majorly wrong with this set, but the little things all add up. For a little more money I think you can probably get much better.

Most of the games I saw were around 70 dollars but this one is about 30. This game is wooden, it has hand carved cups and nice large pieces. The dice are nice. The only issues I have are that the board is very light, which could be good or bad depends, I like a heavy one but this is still well made. The only other issue is that the colors are not very easily distinguished. Yet for the price I paid and the way it is made it is all in all a very good game. I would recommend rather than blowing 70 dollars or more on a game that will be about the same but just extremely overpriced. I really like it and we have played it and seem to have no problems so far. I would tell others to buy it!

I wanted a small game set to take along in the mornings to play backgammon with the other old duffers at the coffee shop, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Most of the inexpensive sets I found were cheap vinyl covered cardboard with plastic checkers and cardboard dice boxes. I saw this little set on your website and both the price and the size appealed to me, so I ordered it. I ordered it with another item so the freight was free, and I figured at that price I couldn't go too far wrong. It showed up all packed in a styrofoam lined box and when I unpacked it I was totally blown away... What a beautiful game set... coffee table quality! Everything about it was first rate from the beautiful wood inlay board down to the genuine wood dice boxes. A first rate backgammon game set at a very reasonable price that should give years of service.
