The far-infrared ray effect allows toast to be crisp and fluffy.
The far-infrared ray property, which is excellent for warming things up, conveys heat thoroughly to the core of the food. It may be difficult to understand the advantages of this grill if you are not in the habit of using an ordinary grill on a regular basis. Many Japanese people have such grills in their homes. It is used according to Japanese food customs, especially for toasting rice cakes. However, nowadays, it is not only used for grilling rice cakes, but also for grilling bread, vegetables, and of course, yakitori and meat. In Japan, people do not have the custom of cooking outside on BBQ grills daily, which is why compact grills like this one are used. The bottom of this grill is coated with ceramic that emits far-infrared rays, which allows the grill to use heat more efficiently than an open flame, and the heat is transmitted evenly and quickly, so that the surface of the food is fragrant and the interior is well heated.I actually do not have an electric toaster. I always use a grill to toast bread. Japanese shoku-pan bread also turn out well, and I like to toast Texas toast bread.Of course, I roasted mochi (rice cakes) for New Year's. With an ordinary grill, the surface of the rice cake would burn first, but with this ceramic grill, the rice cake was cooked to a perfect roast. If you are not in the habit of using such a grill, it may be difficult to understand the advantages of this product, but it also transfers heat well to the inside of the meat, such as grilled chicken.I bought this small size and hope to buy a larger size in the near future. I want to grill not only rice cakes and bread, but also matsutake mushrooms, meat, grilled oysters, shrimp, and other seafood.

You don’t need an electric toaster
This thing is genius! You pop it on the gas stove, turn on the stove, and put your bread on this mesh grill, and you get crispy and warm bread in 30 seconds! It’s very small and takes much less space than an electric toaster.2 things to keep in mind when using it:1) the bread gets brown much faster using this grill than using an electric toaster because this is getting heat from direct fire. So please keep an eye on the bread to prevent from burning.2) the metal mesh grill is really hot right after being used. It’s a bit diappointing that there’s no handle on this grill (I’ve seen another version with a simple stainless steel wire handle online). So please leave it on your stove until it cools down before touching it!Overall, I’m very pleased with it and bought the other size as well. You can fit 4 bagels on the larger one.

Love it
The media could not be loaded. Love it. It really has the charcoal smell and it's so easy to use. My only complaint is that it's too small. Can only fit a piece of bread

Perfect toast on a gas hob
This offers a way to prepare delicious Japanese style toast; thick sliced, crispy on the outside and sort and fluffy inside. Not all dried out like an electric toaster would do. Recommended.

Quality wasn't great
I'm not sure what it that but I noticed there are defects on grills. Hopefully, the ceramic doesn't crack more.
