Heavy Duty but only one speed but lots of air for its size. Got it on sale.As good or better than some high priced flimsy plastic 3 speeds on high speed setting.

Works great to blow air underneath closed doors.
I'm using this to blow air through the little space that exists under a closed door. You just have to kinda wrap a towel around the top to help prevent any air leaking out. I'm doing this in order to pull air in from another door on the opposite side of the same room. This allows air to circulate through the room while both doors are closed. This keeps my computer room much cooler, so that it remains at the same temperature as the rest of my house. This is great because it allows me to keep all the doors shut (for privacy, and to keep the noise down). The bit of noise that that fan generates helps to further drown-out any unwanted noises coming from outside the room, and so I don't mind it. It's not quiet, but it's not as loud as a box fan either.

Perfect!
Couldn't afforded the larger unit, so settled for this one. Not sure how it works to dry carpets, but I think it would be fine for a small area (at least a 5x8 rug). I bought it for the fan and it works WONDERFUL. Sit it on the floor and it cooled the room by at least 5 degrees. I wanted it for ambient noise, so I like how loud it is. It's not too loud though, because I don't have to adjust the volume on the TV at all. Definitely recommend.

Oh I love this fan. I originally purchased this for my dogs. I have been running this fan 24 hours a day since I purchased it. It circulates the air in our living room. MY DOGS LOVE TO LAY IN FRONT OF IT. It is quiet and quite powerful. Highly recommend
