Awesome.
So i bought this speaker for like 18 bucks. It works great! Its loud, has a bit of bass and doesnt stop! I charge it with my lap top, car radio, xbox, and ps3 since its a usb charge. Battery lasts a good while before it drains. I bought this in may and it still works great. I use it almost daily to play music off my phone while i shower lol. But i always take it to the park, beach, back yard, or just to jam around the house. Its nice and loud. Also, if you hook it up to another portable ihome with a y splitter adapter cable, its twice as loud =]. My friend and i love doing that when we go to the beach. However, one works just fine =]

Works well for music while driving
My tape deck went out in my car, and I had been using a tape deck adapter to listen to my music on my Sansa Clip+ mp3 player. I can't stand listening to the garbage on the radio that passes for music, not to mention all the ads, so I was temporarily without music for my daily commute.Rather than dealing with trying to get an old outdated tape deck repaired, I figured I just need to find a decent speaker that works off of its own power that I can plug into my mp3 player. It was with this in mind that I tried the iHome Portable Speaker and am pleased with the end results. It does the job good enough for my purposes.Battery life seems good. So far it outlasts the battery on my sansa clip 2 or 3 times over. I got the purple translucent one, because for some reason at the time of purchase, that color was considerably less expensive than any of the others. The design of the product is....strange. I don't really see the point of having it be collapsible because it really doesn't save you that much room, and the documentation says you should extend the product to its full height before using it anyways. I guess they were trying to make it a bit more portable, but I don't know, it really only saves you about a half of an inch. It's still the better part of 2 inches in height even when closed, and has difficulty fitting into most clothing pockets. It can be done, but it's usually an awkward affair. The choice of cable is unusual too, but not necessarily in a bad way. It has both the 3.5mm audio jack that you plug into the headphone slot, and the USB cable that you use for charging the speaker, right there on the same cable. I guess it's kind of nice in the sense that you have everything you need right there on one cable, but if something ever happened to this cable and you needed to replace it, it would have been much easier if it had just used a standard USB and a standard 3.5mm audio jack as separate cables. Still, that's only a hypothetical situation. If you take decent care of your stuff, it's not hard to keep track of a single cable. All in all though, for the price, this seems to be meeting my needs fairly well. I haven't owned it for very long yet, but I hope it holds up for a good while. Time will tell.

That it is a rechargeable unit.
I had trouble trying to close the unitI didn’t see a volume control on the unit. I bought it not knowing that I had to charge it from time to time.I owned one before but I didn’t have to charge it. I rather have one that I don’t need to charge at different times. This one now shuts the volume off after playing for a few minutes then I turn it off & then on in which it will play again for awhile, then shut off again. Probably hasva short some place.

Not impressed, ordered 2 & one broke after a week.
I was so excited when I got these, finally I could listen to my music while on my iPad. They worked good as soon as plugged them, however the sound quality is not the greatest. There is distortion if turned up all the way and they do bounce around but thats understandable because of the bass. However, one of them just stopped working after a week so I will be returning them both before the other breaks as well. The sound does fill your basic room and outside it could be heard clearly up to about 20' I'd say. However I do need more powerfull speakers, My hearing is not the greatest so I think I will invest a little more money on better speakers. i cannot recommend them unless you want it for a small, private area like your office, otherwise it leaves much to be desired.

Definitely worth the fifteen dollars
This thing has surprisingly good sound for its miniature size. It isn't the highest quality sound, obviously, but it is perfect when i want to use my mp3 player while showering or doing dishes, or using it when I'm traveling (it is so small I can fit it in any pocket of my backpack.). The battery lasts a crazy long time -- I don't even know how. But I have been using it since November and I have only ever had to charge it twice. I *do* wish it had a volume adjustment on the actual speaker though. And if you have the volume turned up too loud, it will actually bounce around on whatever it is sitting on. Final complaint -- the power light is a BLINDING blue. Don't stare directly at it!EDIT: I lowered my review to 3 stars because the lack of volume control has proven to be a much greater inconvenience the longer I have used it.

This is my second one:
I had the 1st one for years. I accidentally dropped the 1st one onto the pavement. I like this little speaker, it is very portable. I take it outside and place it on a chair while I garden. Don't be fooled by its size, it can be very loud! I use it for my Sansa disc/clip MP3 players. Very light so you can take it where ever you want to go. Love it!

Only a 6-Month Lifespan!! @!#@#
First off, this is a great little speaker system. It has excellent sound, even at a high volume. I use this to play music for my pets while I'm not home and at full charge it will run for over 8 hours straight. I'm only giving this product 2 stars because of it's lifespan. I have purchased 2 of these in the past year and each have only lasted for about 6 months each. Both of my units completely died (as in will not charge, turn on or play anything) in under 6 months. This particular one only lasted 4 months. I will say that I ran this unit for 6-10 hours a day approximately 5 days a week during that time, but for a rechargeable item, this should have lasted much longer. It doesn't have a warranty and I can't return it to Amazon.Don't buy this product if you intend to use it a lot. It's probably fine for playing music for an hour or two a day. Very disappointed.
