A lot of bass for the price and it is well made.
Awesome subwoofer for the price. I have one from 16 years ago and now this new one. They both work the same and the quality is still great. They have plenty of power to the sub and sound great. My neighbors love them. Haha! I prefer subwoofers and speakers that are made primarily from paper which these are. I guess I am old school but they are a lot of bass for the price.

Amazing Sub!!! Deep, Clean, Loud Bass!!!!
Growing up I have always been into home theater sound and loud music. I started it out with some off brand speakers given to me. Klipsch in my opinion is an awesome brand. Their products are solid, reputable and sound great. Before this Klipsch subwoofer I was using an Infinity system. Before I ever considered buying Klipsch or any other brand of speakers, at the time I only knew Infinity and I thought that was awesome. I still have the Infinity Total Speaker Solution (TSS-1200) speaker package, It sounds good and the subwoofer was deep and clean. I took a jump and went with Klipsch after I was sold a 5.0 Klipsch Quintet III speaker package. Not knowing much about Klipsch, I pulled these speakers (Quintet) for $150 brand new in the box from craigslist. I hooked up them up to my receiver a Harman Kardon AVR 1600 and they sounded awesome. At the time I left my Infinity subwoofer and still sounded very decent. After researching, checking on forums and reviews I knew I wanted more Klipsch speakers because of my experience using them. I knew I wanted to buy a Klipsch brand sub to pair the quintet system. Being a hard working guy, sometimes I could not justify wanting to spend 250-300 on just one item, like a subwoofer. But the day came, I kept checking on Slickdeals to see if any Klipsch subs would be on sale. I purchased this Klipsch Sub-12HG Synergy Series 12-Inch on sale for $200 with free shipping. Man you cannot beat that, knowing what I know now!!! Excited like a little kid on Christmas morning, when the box arrived I could not wait to hear the bass on this sub. I was surprised on the size of it, this is one bulky monster. Nevertheless, it did not disappoint!!!! The bass on this woofer is amazing, it will literally make the walls rattle. I live in an apartment, I have the bass level on negatives on my receiver, and still this subwoofer hits clean and deep. I mean just very awesome sounds on lows and on point bass. I sampled a couple songs and I heard some lows that my other woofer would have never sounded or picked up. This is an amazing subwoofer, considering my circumstances and what I paid for it. Don't get me wrong, as I really mean this...this subwoofer is worth 300-400 dollars easy. If you ever get a chance to buy under $250 its a deal, anything under $200 its a steal for this sub. If you're looking for mid range price subwoofer I very much recommend this one. Of course there are higher end subs that can go to the 500+ price range. I myself have not made it up that latter, so I will stick to what I know. Consider yourself warned, bass that will shake any form of room made with drywall, this is a bulky item!!!! lol

Great subwoofer! Getting a little bit of hum though.
This sucker is loud! It can be tuned to any level though so don't let that deter you. Overall, I don't really know what to say other than the unit appears to be built well, sound quality seems great, and the price was fantastic when I purchased it. I use this sub one my primary TV setup in my home so the sub see's everything from music, general TV watching, Blu-ray movies, video games, basically everything. I love the sound, especially if I know it's an action move/video game with explosions. The downward firing woofer seems to put some extra sensation into the floor and give an awesome effect. The only reason I am taking one star off is because I had kind of an annoying low level buzzing at one point. I was using a Y cable so I could use both inputs on the back, but for some reason that made it hum even when I had the volume all the way down. As soon as I unplugged on of the two input the hum went away. Just FYI I did purchase and try to use a ground loop isolator to eliminate the hum, but it did not help. The hum is still there a little bit if I turn the sub levels up on the back of the sub, but not too bad. I was pretty upset for awhile until I figured out what improved the humming because I could hear it over normal TV audio when I had the volume lower at night. It made me crazy. I'm not sure if this is just isolated to my unit or not, but maybe Klipsch has addressed it? I'm just glad I was able to get mine dialed in so that I can't hear it now because the sound is great. Overall summary though....great product as most Klipsch products are! Especially for the price!

Best sub for the price!!
I'll start by saying I'm not an average joe when it comes to sound quality, I'm somewhat of an audiophile on a lower budget. That being said I'm super impressed with the sound this thing pushes out. Just for your guys info I have heard super expensive high end subwoofer like the HSU VTF-3 MK5 HP which is a monstrous 15'' inch subwoofer with 600 continuous watts with 2000 watts short term ported to go down to 17hz (which is inaudible but definitely felt!). That subwoofer of course sounds amazing super clean and tight but also destroys the low bass notes in movies. An example of this in action is the opening scene of The Edge of Tommorow that is a great subwoofer test. But! To stay on topic the Klipsch performs great FOR THE PRICE that is the key here. Sound: This thing pounds! Its too much for my little room at the moment, but that's ok you can always turn it down. I have the gain set less than halfway. I will say that it can be a little boomy but that could be my position in the room or because my room is too small. But this subwoofer can produce nice clean low bass the kind of bass that makes the walls shake and your seat vibrate. It is not the best for music as it does not seem to be as clean and tight. But I expected this due to the ported design. This sub is made for the most output as possible for the money. I am using this for a home theater and it is wonderful. Look: It is kind of an eye sore with the legs the way they are, but again who cares I want bass its not a fashion statement. Setup: No problems... pretty much common sense. Auto on feature works as its supposed to. Gain set at less than halfway. Crossover set at highest point as I use my receiver to control X-over point. Overall outstanding subwoofer, I will soon be moving and I will have my own dedicated theater room which is at least twice the size of my room now. Later down the road I plan on purchasing another one(even though I probably wont need it lol) of these to add to my system to close out any potential dead spots and add to the mayhem.

Works very well!
I did a half sized audio upgrade recently. I kept a few speakers but purchased 3 new ones including this subwoofer. Most importantly, I purchased a desperately needed new A/V receiver to replace a 15 year old outdated one. I am thrilled with my new A/V little upgrade. This subwoofer really completed the package. I thought the price was a steal given the power/precision and quality of sound. I am no audiophile so keep this in mind when reading my review. I am just not of the type of person who can distinguish between something that costs 3-5 times more than this subwoofer with similar specs. All I know is that this thing is a beast and I actually have to keep it at about 50% of its power given that anything more is almost too much for the dimensions of the room my TV and system is in. For me, personally, if my room was twice as big as it currently is, this subwoofer would still have all the power of bass I need. My system is an all around everyday system meaning I use it to listen to music; however, I would say it's primary function is for watching media. Again, for my purposes, this thing sounds awesome. It's footprint is a little on the large size but I don't find this too troublesome and it looks elegant enough to not be an eyesore in our living room. I was surprised this particular model has been discontinued by Klipsch and is a model which is a few years old. I don't know why, because, as I said, I am finding it to be solid; however, technology is like that. Companies are always changing their series of products, etc. Rest assured though, this unit came packaged as brand new in its original retail packaging. Bottom line: this thing completely rocks, has lots of power to spare, and the bass is very responsive. Lastly, one final note: this unit represents the first time I've owned a downward firing subwoofer. I think I like it. I have hardwood flooring and I enjoy the rumbling coming from the floor upward. With front or rear facing firing subs, it has been my experience that the bass rumbling reverberates off the walls more and then spreads out. I kinda like the floor reverberation and moving upward sound and feel better I think. Good purchase!

A phenomenal subwoofer for price! Lasts years and is BRUTALLY LOUD!
I purchased my Klipsch Synergy 12” Sub way back in 2014 and it still performs as well as the day it arrived. Klipsch’s built-in BASH amplifier (good for 650w) is so incredibly powerful that I’ve rarely turned the sub volume past HALF. When properly placed into a corner, this sub can easily shakes the cushions on my couch from 12 feet away. It’s also has speaker level inputs if you’re in a pinch, but I’ve never used them, as all you require is left and right RCA cable for input. The crossover is simple, it’s just another knob with xover frequencies labeled on a dial. I’ll usually tune music via software EQ to make the bass more punchy, but it sounds pretty good naturally and doesn’t require too much tweaking. My only modest critique is that some bass can be a bit muddled when played loud, but this is also due to the compressed music we all listen too. I have noticed better performance when listening to lossless files via Plex. During setup I used all kinds of bass tones (20, 30, 40, 60 and 80Hz test tones) and the sub played them just fine. For movies, it’s GREAT! The sub really comes alive during well-produced, multi-channel (Dolby, DTS, etc) audio. It provides for some deep-in-your-bones bass. Explosions, gun fire, aircraft. The bass plays all with authority, I can’t see how anyone could be disappointed considering the low cost of this sub. I’d suggest some felt feet for the sub as it reduces vibration in the floor and costs only pennies to significantly improve your audio. I’ve seen a lot of posts asking about Polk Audio subs in comparison to the Klipsch? I’ve owned a few PA subs and I feel reasonably certain that the Klipsch takes the cake in almost every metric. PA lose authority at really low frequencies (20-60Hz), but the Klipsch will thump a 20Hz tone all day without any flutter or clipping. Lastly, I wasn’t paid a dime to leave this review. I’m simply enamored with this sub after 5 long years of ownership.

OLDIE BUT GOODIE PROVES THAT SOME KLIPSCH MODELS SHOULD NOT BE DISCONTINUED!!
As an audiophile and avid home theatre buff, I will admit that I have champagne taste on a beer budget. I am also a married Father of 4 kids, so if something is an inexpensive good buy, I will find it. Usually, if you are fortunate enough to find one of these on Amazon, feel confident in your purchase. Yes, since KLIPSCH has discontinued this subwoofer, in most cases, it will not be returnable. But, you can trust KLIPSCH. I have purchased two of these from Amazon within the last six months. There are certain brands that I have found are "IN MY OPINION" are the best brands to stick with. For receivers, I will always turn to Onkyo. Clear High Current with that Trademark Onkyo sound. Currently, I have a TXNR636 that has been firmware updated to accommodate Dolby Atmos. For subwoofers, it is obvious that I turn to KLIPSCH. For 4K Televisions, my eyes always prefer a Samsung 60 inch, as I sit eleven feet from the screen, however, I hope to move-up to a 65 or 70 inch SUHD and SUHD Blu-Ray player in the next year. For Blu-Ray players, I also prefer, Samsung. For clean, stable, 120 electric, I prefer Monster Cable, and for speakers, my wife insisted that I do ceiling speakers. I needed a great HD speaker with great power handling so I went with (7) Acoustic Audio HD-8Pr 8 inch Round 2 Way Kevlar Speakers (White) from Amazon in the 12 foot high ceiling. I could not have made a better choice. They have crystal clear highs and well rounded bass thanks to the 8 inch Kevlar cones and they sound great at high volumes with any movie from Classic Westerns to new movies like "Risen". With these two KLIPSCH Sub-12HG Synergy Series 12-Inch 300-Watt subwoofers, both the earthquake scene , as well as, the stone being rolled into place in front of the tomb of Jesus completely, blew me away. Both Subs are set the same. Gain is set at 12 "O" Clock and Low Pass is set ar 12 "O" Clock. Phase is set at 0. Auto is selected. And the input I am using LEFT/LFE. Both inputs on the subwoofers are supplied directly, from the Onkyo receivers 7.2 (2) SUB OUTS through Monster Cable MSB850SW-8M (26FT) Subwoofer Cables also, from Amazon. Since I had bathed all my trim in Ralph Lauren River Rock, I used Frog Tape and gave the KLIPSCH Sub-12HG's a bath in 3 coats of Ralph Lauren River Rock paint sold at Home Depot. Now the typical black box sub look is gone and they blend in nicely with the other decor. I do not mind the bright blue LED that is constant when the subs are on, and the bright red LED when no signal is received after a small amount of time. The bass is tight, strong, and powerful, but never exaggerated. I am so happy with my purchases from Amazon. The Bass is "PHENOMENAL".
