Bushnell XS vs Garmin S1
I own the Bushnell NEO XS and the (now outdated) Garmin S1. Both do the job of providing distances to the center of the green, but overall, I prefer the Bushnell NEO XS. Some feature comparisons: 1. Battery and Charging I have gotten 4 rounds from a single charge on the Bushnell, while the Garmin seems to run out after 1-2 rounds, often dying in the middle of the 2nd round. Both watches use a clip mechanism to charge where you position the charger connects on the back of the watch. The mechanism for the Garmin is far more finicky than the Bushnell. Often on the Garmin I feel like the connections should be set but the watch doesn't charge. I need to jiggle the connection a bit to make it charge. The Bushnell has a similar mechanism, but aligns the charging connects via two protruding pins on the charger. This mechanism guarantees a charge nearly always for me, and I don't have to worry about accidentally moving the watch and breaking the charging connect; this has happened a few times with the Garmin. 2. Comfort The Bushnell is lighter and the watch band is softer than the Garmin. This may be a point of preference, but I notice the Bushnell less while golfing vs. the Garmin. The Garmin is bulkier and slightly heavier and I find myself having to adjust the watch and move towards my forearm prior to hitting a shot. The band on the Bushnell is less stiff, which is good for comfort, but may wear more quickly than the Garmin. 3. Usage Both watches have similar feature sets, including distance to the green and the ability to measure the distance of a shot. The Garmin captures the GPS signal faster than the Bushnell, with the Bushnell sometimes taking 2-3 minutes to show the list of courses when entering golf mode. While locked on, both perform equivalently. I feel like the Bushnell tends to advance holes before I completed the current hole more than the Garmin, so I have to manually toggle back to the current hole. To toggle the "measure shot" mode on the Bushnell, you just need to push a button once while the Garmin makes you hold the menu button down and then select an option from the menu. This feature is definitely easier on the Bushnell. Another convenient feature is to set an "alarm" and a time "limit" on your round. When using these features, the Bushnell will automatically go into golf mode at the alarm time and then exit golf mode after a preset time (5 hrs default). The latter feature should save some battery if you forget to manually exit golf mode after the round. I only really use the Bushnell now these days. The Garmin S1 is discontinued and the S3 has more features like being able to track your score. For the money, I think the Bushnell is a great value and recommend it over the Garmin products.

Great Product - accurate yardage & simple to use
Great product!! I have had this for just over a month and used it on four different courses now and love it. I have checked the accuracy against my range finder and found it to be spot on for yardage; usually within one to three yards max. One of the nice features is simply looking at your wrist and checking yardage to center, front, back of greens, to hazards [to, and carry] and end of fairways as well, something a range finder will not give you. Another great feature is the shot distance; one press of a button and it measures the distance from where the shot was hit. The only problem I have encountered is it will jump ahead one or two holes after a swing, but this has only been on occasion when in manual mode only. Overall, a great product, I would highly recommend it to any avid golfer that requires accurate yardage. The battery charges quickly and holds a charge for a couple of full rounds, probably longer but I don't want to push it and run out in the middle of a round, already getting quite used to playing with it!

Somewhat satisfied, but...
I used a Bushnell Rangefinder scope for years, until it stopped functioning. Rather than spend $300 to $400 on a new scope, I purchased the GPS watch for about half the price. I assumed I would be trading some accuracy for more convenience, and that is about right. The scope was terrific, except in the fog or on blind shots, but it did require getting it in and out of the golf bag or cart. The watch is more convenient, and does not typically interfere with play. I often carry my golf bag, and sometimes the watch will catch the carry strap as I slip it over my shoulder due to the watch being a little bulky at 1/2" in thickness. The yardages seem to be generally accurate, and are usually close to a friend's Garmin watch. There are times when it will get stuck on a yardage, or when the yardage shown seems to be wrong. I then often rely on the course markings, but it is a bit annoying and unsettling to have two different yardages in mind. It is times like those that I wish for my scope! I purchased the black watch with the white numbers. I do not think the numbers appear as clearly as shown in the product photo. The numbers are more green than white. But viewing the display is generally easy during a round of golf. Personally, I do not think it works as well as a watch, since indoors, the numbers are much more difficult the read - not impossible, just more difficult. Watches with black numbers on the light background are probably better for that. I have had no problems with it locating courses, although the initial search can take two to three minutes. I usually charge the watch on Fridays before my Saturday round, so have had no problem with battery life. I also purchased the watch car charger which was sold as part of a package, but have no idea what is going on there! The watch charges with a pronged attachment that clips to the watch, but the car charger comes with a small USB end. I had assumed the car charger would also have the required pronged end. If someone knows the rationale behind that, please let me know.
