Best item for this price
A very good projector specially considering the price. There are so many positives to get this projector that you can easily discard a few minor cons (only for the sake of mentioning, otherwise they are not negatives by any means). Positives: 1) Excellent brightness: 2800 lumens is amazing. I have two large windows on either side of my screen with white blinds and the image is still very much view-able during the day (of course you can not compare with the night viewing when it becomes absolutely stunning). I have tried it while 4 (60-80W equivalent) bulbs and still the picture speaks for itself. 2) Colour - Excellent colours and you can further adjust them to your taste. I don't need that as the default by itself is so stunning so 99% of people won't even think of it. 3) Screen size and Image Quality - I have mounted it on the ceiling about 18 feet away and it's making about 160 inch image. I'm using one of the walls (light brown with a lot of texture) as the screen and even though I care for quality, I haven't even thought of getting a screen so you can imagine how good the quality is. I have played the Blu ray that is mighty amazing. Normal DVD is also not bad. You-tube videos also produce good quality result (more than what I initially thought). Connected to computer using VGA and the video result was again more than I expected. Again it's a 170 inch screen and I'm not talking about a 100 inch screen (which itself is quite big) but no comparison when it goes beyond 150. 4) 16:10 aspect ratio - Although I don't understand why this projector comes in this aspect ratio as most of the images are in 16:9 or even smaller, however, this didn't give any problems. The image size reduces about 10 to 12 inches on a 160 inch screen and considering the size of that screen, its nothing. Some people can consider this a minor negative but not a deal breaker by any means. 5) 720P - Its virtually similar to 1080P and the difference is not easily identifiable. Particularly if you're spending less than $500, then there is no need to go for a 1080P, infact I would highly encourage to go for this one rather than a $1000 worth of a 1080P. If you really need a 1080P, go for a $2000+ if you really want some difference. I have played blu ray with excellent results. 6) Difference with Viewsonic PJD5134: I purchased 5134 earlier and used it for 2 days, but decided to go for 5533W for the following reasons: a) 800x1200 vs 1280x800 resolution - This is a massive difference and easily identifiable i.e. far more than a 1080P vs 720P. Technically speaking, with PJD5134, you are using 360,000 vs 870,000 pixels (2.41667 times more). The calculation assumes that a 16:9 aspect ration movie is played so with PJD 5134 (4:3 aspect ratio), you have massive black lines on top and bottom hence loosing 120,000 view-able pixels. b) 4:3 vs 16:10 aspect ratio: Massive difference as some of it I have already explained in "a" above. Secondly, to create a 100 inch viewable image of 16:9 aspect ration, you have to project about a 140inch screen approximately. This is a massive drawback. c) Screen to projector distance - To create a same size image, you have to put 5134 way back than the 5533W, so if you have a comparitively smaller room, you would loose significant amount of screen size (considering both aspect ratio and throw distance) I can provide more details however this would go on and on. The bottom line is go for 5533W (in comparison with 5134) without any second thought. Although I'm not downgrading 5134 by any means as its image is very good but considering $100 difference, 5533W significantly outplays 5134. 7) 3-D Quality: I have viewed multiple 3-D movies using active glasses, I bought the cheapest 4 pairs from amazon ($22-$25) and the result is stunning. Although Avatar produced the best and overwhelming results, the others (e.g. titanic, the darkest hour etc.) produced excellent quality results. 8) Sound - Well if you're using a projector and care to see quality image, then I don't think there would be a single person relying on the projector's speaker. Also, I don't think there is a single projector on the market with bamboozling sound so this is not a drawback in a sense. You just plug in a 5.1 surround system and you have to do it anyway to get an all-encompassing experience. I would advise to use a good quality sound system to get an over-whelming experience. 9) Image Adjustment - Key-stone is only up&down and not side-ways. It's only a minor limitation, however you would anyway put the projector in the middle of the room so you only need the up&down feature and that's all you need. Secondly, the image adjustment (zoom) is not a massive feature with this projector, but once you adjust the projector, this feature goes out of the equation, however you need to consider that and I suggest using projectorcalculator.com to calculate the distance and size of the screen etc. 10) Remote features: Very intuitive and easy to use, so nothing worth mentioning here. 11) HDMI cable: I've used both 25 feet and 50 feet HDMI cables with stunning results and no difference at all. The bottom line is that use an HDMI cable ($15) and you would be perfect. Don't go for a massively expensive cables. 12) Quiet: This is a very quiet projector and if it's hanging on the ceiling, I don't think you would hear any noise, even during the quiet parts of a movie. 13) Heating - So far, I have not found it to be overly heating despite of a very powerful 2800 lumens bulb. 14) Rainbow effect - I haven't found any, not sure if anyone have found. Bottomline - Just do the basics right and this is the projector to go for, perhaps the best in this price range as of today. Hope this review is helpful and informative. Best regards, A.

First projector, was very nervous buying this
When I bought this projector it had about 40 reviews and overall 4.5 stars. I considered the less expensive PJD5134 because it had such high ratings. But I wanted to get the best for my budget. My budget initially was $400, but I decided to dish a little more for a hopefully better projector. As soon as I powered it on I knew I made the right decision. Set up - was a breeze, plug it in, hook it up (to my PS3) and aim at a wall. I did not buy a screen, I have an empty wall in my apartment where my old TV used to be. I did not buy fancy pain or anything. Quality - very very nice. Very crisp and very clear. The size and sharpness is adjustable to a certain degree. The projector is about 11 feet away (plus or minus 6 inches), I currently have a 90 inch diameter on a wall (and it can be made atleast 1 foot larger but my wall limits the size). Its really thrilling to see something so huge. To be honest I'm not too savvy in regards to whether its 1080 or 720, I have seen the projector adjust to images thats 1920x1080. Perhaps that information will be helpful to someone. I have watched netflix movies, played a whole variety of PS3 games and it is ridiculously sharp and clear. 3D - I wasnt sure if I would be able to figure out how to watch things in 3D - but the PS3 and netflix made it simple. I watched some nature documentaries in 3D and it blew me away. It felt like the animals were right in front of me. Then I played call of duty in 3D, and yeah it felt like I was running through a battle field. I bought 2 active 3D glasses, from amazon - the cheapest I found. Works perfectly. Brightness - The bulb is ridiculously bright. At night it lights up my entire living room. I was able to read something with only the projector being on. Then I turned on all the lights - not a problem, I do not think there was any difference in brightness. Then the next morning (with sun shining into my apartment) I opened up all the curtains and turned on all the lights - brightness was still there, but a little less intense. However it was much better than I expected. In fact I play my games and watch my shows in the same lighting condition with dynamic eco on. Thats how bright it is. Dynamic eco is a mode that darkens the screen to preserve energy and I guess bulb life. Colors - The colors are so rich. Every time I turn it on I am amazed by how rich it is. I love playing video games on this. Sound - low, but the good thing is you can hook up 3.5mm speakers to it. The simplicity of hooking up my pc speakers was definitely a win. Overall I am very happy and thrilled I purchased this. I researched for about 1 month. And I could not have spent my money on a better device in my opinion. It deserves 5 stars.

This was a fantastic buy. I could not be more pleased. One of the things that prompted me to choose this particular projector was that it has an audio output. I was able to connect it to my Xbox for gaming and movie watching using an HDMI cable. Then, I ran a 3.5mm audio to rca cable from the projector to my speaker system. Works great!

Produit très bien, mais vendeur (Achatpc) horrible : le produit vendu comme neuf avait en fait 3 ans, et donc était hors garantie. La lampe n'a évidemment pas tenu longtemps. Bref, une sacré arnaque.
