Preserve Your Ability to Walk! They Work!!!!!
<<< UPDATE>>>THEY WORK!!!!!Well, it took less than one year for these to pay off. I was using my chain saw, made a cut, and prepared to make another but needed to adjust the log. The throttle lever was not pressed, but the chain was still slowing down when I noticed it had stopped suddenly. I looked down and the pants had white threads popping out and the chain was caught in them. These chaps worked exactly as they are designed to work! I have no doubt I would have had a gash had I not been wearing these. This was one of the purchases that I put off for too long. Just look at some chainsaw injury videos and photos on the internet and you will see why these are a no-brainer.I guess using a chainsaw is one of those activities where accidents happen to everyone else but me. Chainsaw use can and does result in fatalities and serious injuries. I have been lucky so far. I am sure my technique does not always stand-up to textbook scrutiny. We all do it. We get too comfortable with a dangerous tool and risk our health. These are one of those protective items that may seem like overkill but are not. Why not take two minutes and throw these on? I already wear eye and ear protection; might as well complete the ensemble. Plus, you will look like "Curly" in City Slickers!Of course once these serve their function in a real-life situation they are destroyed. But you will still have your leg(s)! Just buy another one and smile. They fit well and are easily adjusted with the straps and quick releases. Well built - no loose threads, strong seams, and heavy duty.Dark Navy Blue.

Comfortable and not too hot.
Let me start by saying that I've not ever had more than a superficial cut from a chainsaw, but I started wearing protective clothes after chewing up a good pair of work pants and scratching my knee about 20 years ago. These chaps are new. I got them after wearing out my previous (another brand) blue jean style protective pants. They have some major advantages over the latter. First, they are cooler, since the backside is open. The second is that they cover the entire front of the lower body instead of just the legs like the blue jean style pants, i.e. they give some protection to the pelvis and the femoral artery areas. Third is they allow a little more freedom of knee movement without scratching since the Kevlar is outside rather than inside the user's pants.I've heard that if a running chain gets into them they will wad up and jam it faster than jean style, but I hope to never test that theory. I have no desire to be the new improved idiot who proves the design isn't really idiot proof.I got the blue rather than the orange since I usually wear an orange helmet or hat in the woods and my chainsaw is orange, so after a while it just gets odd to be out there looking like a pumpkin.Edited in March 2121 to say that Although I bought them in November 2014 they are still working well. That is six and a half years with no sign of wearing out.

Great protection, Front Load washable.
I purchases this several years ago for my husband and they have been amazing. Easy to put on and take off. Not too hot in the summer. He has had them five years and yesterday used them in h 92 degree weather in a creek. They were soaked with sweat, five years of dirt and creek water.I came here to read comments about laundering and was shocked at the price, did not pay over one hundred dollars.Anyway I remembered when we got them the outer package said machine wash, inner tag says hand wash. Sorry, hand washing isn’t going to get it. I snapped the clips together so the chaps were back to back, like one leg of a trouser, and put them in the washer with the jeans he wore.We have a front loader which I believe to be more gentled on closes. I washed them on delicate warm which is a 40 minute cycle and line dried. They came out perfect.

Good Chaps, work and fit well.
These chaps are easy to put on and fit well. The free super saver shipping took about 2 weeks to get them here, but that is what they predicted when I checked out. The straps for the waist and legs are easily adjustable with nylon and slide buckles, and I believe they could fit anyone. I may cut some of the excess strap off as it flaps in the breeze on my legs. I wear them a little low on the waist because I have long legs (to make them cover lower on my ankles). On my skinny calves if I cinch them down its like wrap around chaps, which I like. If you have thick calves they will only cover the front and part of the sides of calf. After using them I think it is important for the protection to wrap all the way around the calves (which these do for me, but may not for other people). Good product, as with most Husqvarna stuff. Good price. Would buy it again.

A great workaround for women, and a good price.
I was impressed by this purchase. First, I saved over $50 compared to buying this at my local small engine shop. Second, as a female operator there are no chap options designed for women (at least not one locatable after a few hours of searching). I'm also small so I expected these to be ill-fitting, awkward and dangerous. To my surprise they fit great. The overall stance (height) of the chaps works somehow with my tiny frame. The adjustable straps at the back are short enough to allow me to make the pants snug. As a bonus, the extra fabric wraps a long way around the sides of my legs, making them safer on me than they might be on a larger person. If you're a woman and nervous about the gap in safety equipment options, this item is a refreshing change. Well design, great quality and a good price.

These work.
I have to say these things work well. (Ignore my dumb move and focus on the chap performance). Our focus was safely taking a large tree down to a specific location. That was successful. However I got comfortable and then sloppy de-limbing the tree. I was cutting branches off and then right away letting go of the saw with one hand to grab the branch to throw it aside. This is a dumb practice as the chain does not stop immediately when you let go of the trigger. When I let go of the saw, somehow with the momentum it came back and ran right into the side of my leg. I knew right away this was bad even though the saw was not in full throttle. GOOD news. The chain caught the chap and stopped right away. It wrapped into the chap and the fibres stopped the chain immediately. No damage to my leg nor pants. I got lucky on a stupid move on my part.I would say chain saw chaps in general are a great idea. These are affordable and were a good buy. I feel a full throttle direct impact is rare as there is a lot of attention to safety on the main cuts. However incidental secondary contact with a chain would be more common. This chap does well there and price good for a chap that covers about 3/4 of the leg surface.
