It can get very cold in my area and having chickens can be challenging, especially trying to keep their water from icing over. I have 2 waterers (metal), one inside the coop and one hanging outside and had trouble as soon as the temp dipped down to 20 degrees. Bought a pumice block and stepping stone, hubby made it so I could fit a ceramic light fixture inside, then set the inside waterer so it just hangs on top (for leveling). Turned it on and it works like a charm, also keeps the right temp inside the coop. The outside one was more challenging, so also had the ceramic/block set-up, set the waterer on top, but this time wrapped an electric heat cord (at least 5 wraps) and plugged both in, and it also works great. Temp has gotten down to 2 degrees and as long as I keep the waterers full, no freezing.

You might smell some smells or hear some noises or wonder if it's working at the beginning. I'm pretty sure that's normal. Mine works great! This helps keep my iguana warm at night without putting out any light and its has worked since I bought it 3 1/2 months ago. It still works. I have mine on a timer and dimmer so I have TOTAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL MOWAHAHHAAAA! It sends heat DEEP down into the tank, as opposed to a wide and shallow heating range. I would recommend having one deep and one wide or having multiple lamps of some sorts.

I have used mine for almost a year and it worked fine. I use it to keep my bird warm and now that it is getting warmer I have turned it off and storing it. I would say if you are using it for a bird you should plug it in away from the bird for a few hours because there was a scent that needed to burn off for a bit. After that I never noticed it again. Nice product.

Received this product DOA. Getting a replacement. After receiving this product, I was excited to install it since my lizard needs a bit more heat. I attempted to screw it in to the fixture and it wouldn't go. I tried a couple times thinking it was just me. I finally gave up and investigated why it just wouldn't screw in. Apparently this passed their quality testing because the threads were mashed together which I didn't even this was possible. I used thin metal bar to pry them apart hoping that would fix the issue, however, it didn't. I set it on the table and noticed that not only were the threads messed up, it was not straight. Waiting for the replacement. See the attached pictures so you can see what I am talking about.

We use this heater outside in our desert tortoises' burrow. It doesn't generate a ton of heat, but enough to keep him comfy (mind you the burrow is insulated, so not a lot of heat is required). I love that it generates heat but no light. We had bought him a "night" light previously, but it was very bright (even though it was a dark red light) and it disrupted his sleep in the evenings. We've had it for a month and it's still working fine. We'll order this again.

So far so good, gecko made through winter last year with this, so I give A+.

These are a must for herp keepers, especially those living in colder climates during the winter months. The ceramic heater I have has lasted for 10+ years with zero issues. It gets INTENSELY hot, so use gloves if you're going anywhere near this thing. A good distance from your herp would be around 1.5 to 2 feet, minimum, FYI. If the ambient temp is still too cold, use a blanket over part of the tank and keep an eye on the gauges.

this item did not last, within a few months the spiral socket fitting cracked off and the lamp was unusable. after a hassle with the Hagen corp to try and get replacement while it was still under warranty they reluctantly sent a new emitter (same model). BUT now the SAME failure of the SAME model heater in a different socket has occurred and almost caught my house on FIRE this time! another product (mercury vapor bulb) from this brand has also failed and customer service for Hagan is refusing to help without a purchase receipt, so lame. but poor quality AND poor customer service mean i will not be buying any products from Exo-Terra again and do not recommend!

Funciono muy bien cuando lo conecte en mi incubadora de huevos, tuve que modificar la posición y dirección del socket porque el largo supera en 1 centímetro aproximadamente el largo de un foco estándar, fuera de eso todo OK. Funciona a la perfección y tiene excelentes acabados.

Brilliant, Hot spot is just the right temperature now, ceramic bulbs tend to last for years unlike bulbs and this brand is the best I have tried to date, worth a little extra for the quality and life span. Make sure you use a proper mounting and cage protective fitting for these. They are very hot and so there is a burn risk if touched and fire risk if they are not mounted correctly and safely.

La verdad tengo 4 bombillas cerámicas de estas y son super fiables. En 3 años no han dejado de funcionar. Es importantísimo usarlas con un termostato.
