Great pair of everyday shoes
This is my fourth or fifth pair of Merrell Moabs over the last 25 years. (They were called something else originally.) I wear them a lot. They are great for rain and snow because they have an aggressive tread pattern. They wear well, and I usually get at least four years out pf a pair, then they become work shoes for around the house and yard for a few years before I throw them out. They fit well, and are comfortable to wear all day, every day. Worth the money spent every time.

The Only Casual Shoes That I'll Wear
I have been buying these for years. I believe that I'm on my fifth pair. Don't get me wrong - the quality and durability is excellent. I'll typically wear a new pair as my Sunday-go-to-meetin' shoes for a year (at least), then buy a new pair and use my old ones for yardwork, trips to the dump, etc. After three years, they're looking ratty and I'll toss them. Comfort-wise, they are absolutely wonderful. I have a pair of mid-rise that I use for hiking. But if ankle support isn't of prime importance, these are great for hiking. Price, comfort, durability - Merrell has it all.

Black pair excellent quality but not waterproof
Very comfortable and durable and good traction. Holding up well doing yard work such as mowing grass. The black pair is water resistant but not waterproof which is why not 5 star. Would buy again.

Great for work!
I love these Merrell Adventure Lace shoes. They are comfortable, feel light, the leather is quality and durable. They work both with casual or business attire. These are my daily go to shoes for work. Fits true to size.

very good but after 5 days of wear front splits
july 23 update wore the shoes last week feet got wet the leather died black blead blead all over my toes still black a week later. not water proof anymore. small tear in leather in front of one front coming off of both. past amazon return but shoes are guaranteed for a year. Not this pair not a certified sales on amazon could be contefits. still Merrell pfered a 30 percent discount on new pair. from emails with Merrills shoe company they have all but said the shoes i bought are not real merrils For right now a very good looking shoe and a perfect fit size 12. Sole is a bit stiff but has great feel and enough flex so it will be good for shoveling and climbing on rocky areas. I will update this after 2 weeks of use. Ok after 5 days of wear front of 1 shoe is coming apart its an issue I have had with Merrell shoes similar to these but its usually after 6 months to a year of wearing them. I have been able to fix most of them with Shoe Glue but 5 days of use is unacceptable. I can not find a way to directly contact Merrell but would appreciate any help to do so. This is a hard thing to deal with as I use these shoes for work as landscaper and i think if they last more then 6 months its worth the expense but 5 days not so much. I have to say the shoes are very comfortable and Merrell usually out performs others like Keen or Columbia Keens do the same thing split in the front after 6 months of use. Any help in contacting Merrell would be appreciated. I feel I'm due some compensation for these shoes.

So far, So good!
Good fit, shoes are comfortable. I wore them all day today to “break them in,” but they were soft enough to wear out do the box. I bought them for a trip to Scotland since these are advertised as waterproof and I was looking for more of a casual looking shoe rather than a boot. If anything changes i will update the review, but right now it’s all good!

Not quite right
These hiking shoes did not turn out right for me. 1) As noted elsewhere, the "boulder" color is not tan but a muddy green. That didn't bother me too much, but Amazon (or Zappos) needs to fix this. 2) The shoes felt claustrophobic and hot to me, with a tight upper toe area. I have high arches so this may be just a personal problem. As you can see from the pic, the tongue bulges out between the laces weirdly. I felt like I was strapping leather and padding onto my feet, rather than slipping into a well-fit shoe. 3) Contrary to Amazon's "Product Description", the weight is NOT 12 ounces - that is of course absurd. The actual weight (see pic) is 2 pounds for both shoes. Apparently it is not possible to compare shoe weights on Amazon as the figures given are nonsense. Which leads me to the overall problem with this "shoe". I bought them as a lighter alternative to some Rockport XOS waterproof hikers, for an upcoming long trip to Australia where I need maximum flexibility in shoes (day hikes, city walks, indoor activity). These aren't an improvement on what I already have - just too much there, too heavy, probably great for hiking but not something I want to wear all day. They don't claim to be waterproof but I wonder if they have the same thick material as the waterproof model. I returned them and have ordered an alternative MOAB Aventure shoe which feels much lighter (for unknown reason), and much more stylish looking. I did not get a chance to wear them on an outdoor walk as I didn't want to return them "used", so I can't vouch for their competence.
