A good lens, specially at this price.
Overall it is a nice lens at such a low price. It wont disappoint you until you are not looking for a perfect experience.Pros:1) Price: i got it for 7300 under cash back scheme (even @8500 it is a worth buy)2) Quality: you can get good result, but you have to use tripod.3) light weight4) easy to carry.5) has AFS and VR (at this price)Cons:1) Average VR: VR is not upto the mark, even a slight shake (bare minimum) will leave you with a blur pic or loss of detail at zoom. see attached images i had to take 10 pics just to make text readable (shutter 1/60) at 200 mm,2) Soft image: at greater / lower mm the image becomes soft. its not sharp as it should have been.Points that i disagree (as written in other reviews):1) Many reviews says that it is a plastic body and is very much inferior as compared to 18-55 mm, but i didn't find much difference except focus and VR button.2) auto focus decent and is not that slow as mentioned in other reviews.Points that i agree ( as written in many other reviews)1) Not for bird photography.2) Noise while auto focusing, it is not loud but could have been better. You wont be disappointed with this lens, but would not be amazed too.

Worth product from Nikon for this price Tag - All Beginners/wildlife photographers should have this in their kit box
In the product feedback, had seen many comments related to poor quality make, expecting more features for less price tags etc and some genius advices…..I personally feel that , this product is worth the price…. Good design, engineering for this price tag…. Thanks to Nikon and Amazon and even for the Seller… don’t expect Honda City for the price of Wagon R… Here Wagon R is made with its specific compositions and with its price tag… Actually, here We get the Wagon R for Tata Nano price tag :-). So, for this very less price, we get a good product from Nikon. Need to appreciate rather commenting on product make and design…. If it is damaged or if any flaw is notice then it is a different channel….I am truly enjoying with this lens, from Nikon and my thanks to them for offering such a wonderful lens for this price tag ! I suggest all DSLR lovers, especially beginners, to have this 55-200mm VR telephoto zoom lens and one prime lens (either 35mm or 50mm) depending upon their taste, as it would play a vital role in thickening the bond between you and the camera. Superb shots all photos with good clarity….

Worth Your Penny
This is an awesome buy. I got this about a month or two back from amazon and presently i am using this with my Nikon D3300.It is worth every penny and the sellers did a good job of providing regular updates with the delivery and a decent packaging as well. The best part is the add ons - a hood, the caps, a bag, just no room complaints here.Frankly, being a new D-SLR user, I expected a higher level of zoom at 200mm, but the clarify it provides at the full zoom levels clearly stands out. Also even if you are using this as a prime lens (though note : you would need at least 5-6 feet for a focus), it does its job very well. There were several others cheaper options like tamron 300mm & even a Nikon 200 mm at much lower costs BUT they DO NOT have VR that it is specifically for that reason you should pay little extra and buy this. I use this at full zoom with a tripod ever and the results are good.Low light, portraits and macro (using a cheap 250 Rs screw-in lens) are equally promising. The only ask is probably a faster delivery a metro city (central area) delivery took around 10-12 days.

Decent enough telephoto zoom lens at a budget price
I bought it to use it with my nikon 3200. I haven't used it too many times in the last one month. Probably I haven't been to many situations where I can use it. From the basic usage I had these are my observations.1. When compared(at 55mm) it with the 18-55 kit lens, picture quality was slightly better with the kit lens, though wasn't easily noticeable. If I have to pick one of these lenses to shoot at 55mm in a bright condition, I would definitely choose the 18-55 kit lens. But if it is a dark condition, then I would use this lens in review, because its aperture is wide open at 55mm (f3.5) compared to the kit lens's f5.6 at 55mm2. Internal focusing is little bit on the back side unless your focal point is on a large enough object. In dark conditions it takes a long time to fix the focus.3. VR mechanism really helps.4. Bokeh comes really nice.5. Build quality is same as that of the 18-55 kit lens.6. if you are looking for a budget telephoto zoom lens which which gives you decent picture quality somewhere close to the nikkor 18-55 VR kit lens then this is worth the money you spend(I paid 8600 rs). Don't expect miracles from it.

Good lens which serves it's purpose
For the price it's a nice lens. You will be able to take some good long range shots. But here's a little something that beginners who are buying this lens for it's function in such a low price range, should know. It works at f/4 to 5.6. This means that the aperture of the lens is very small. Therefore, it won't function so well in low light as much as it does in bright light. Also you will not get as much depth of field effect in you shots if you intend to buy this for shooting such pictures. Unless your subject is standing far away from the BG, depth of field is not something that you can achieve easily with this lens.Having said that, it's a good lens for the purpose that it serves. I get good long range shots in broad day light. When I need some really good depth of field in my pictures, I switch to my prime lens but of course, you end up sacrificing the long range.
