Not a self-help book; it’s a guide to understanding who you are and who you are meant to be
I got this book over the weekend...read about my type...said, “Oh my gosh,” a BUNCH of times...wrote up my highlighted parts in my journal (sort of creatively of course; I’m an ENFP 😄), then wrote up the thoughts of my inner council (an ENFP exercise) and...Holy Toledo!I’m trying to sort out my future after ending my former career, and my husband and I are trying to land on “the where” of our next geographic move next year. What I read about my type in “the car model” was so helpful in determining that my 10 yr old has been trying to drive the car and my 3 yr old has been having a meltdown in the back seat while I have been tying to figure out these decisions.Honestly, I was driving myself batty w/ these perplexing decisions and kind of mad God wasn’t seemingly honoring my prayers for wisdom. So glad I ordered this book - may sound corny but I think it was heaven sent. This isn’t a self help manual, IMO, it’s a guide to helping us to know ourselves and to grow into taking responsibility for living out who we are meant to be. Finally, I’m hopeful that my future can be known, and I’m looking forward to the discovery process.Thank you Joel and Antonia for all the years of hard work poured into this book!

Extremely thick book, worth twice the cover price.
I actually was surprised to see how thick this book was when it arrived. I dove into it, and was pleasantly surprised how well the publisher laid out the book and edited everything. This was easy to read and understand. I appreciated all the work that went into this tome, and I could see that both Joel and Antonia are knowledgeable beyond their years. I've always enjoyed their podcasts and frequent discussions on their blog. Antonia is astute in responding to posts made as well are their staff. If one was to seek to understand themselves I wouldn't look any further than Personality Hacker! This INTJ enjoy's their delightful musings, good intel, vulnerability, and deeply human nature. I will continue to be a long term Personality Hacker customer, because most of all they make me feel welcome in their presence and have given me a deep understanding of myself, and others. As an INTJ I don't normally give comments as I find those things to be shallow and obvious (it's an Fe thing I wouldn't understand, but I am trying to work on it), yet these folks here have earned them all and I can't say enough good things about them. I look forward to them revamping their individual personality profiles later this year. The only criticism I offer of the book is found early on in regards to personal security and that is to not use either politics or religion for example to make a point, it's way too personal a subject for many people. I think if that statement about politics had to be written over I would write " Evidence suggests that modern day political campaigns are becoming more and more influenced by foreign governments and private research firms." If you remember even in the distant past, the French influenced militarily the outcome of the Revolutionary war against the British Empire, nothing new here. My point here is don't take it personal or make it personal when it comes to business, be heart centered, be compassionate, and be generous, however if you are not directly writing a book about politics or religion as it applies to personality then I am suggesting to leave those things out as they can negatively impact whether or not someone returns the book or does business with you. The same could be said of sports teams. There has been a lot of animosity over these subjects, which has resulted in bad things happening when it was taken personally and alienated people with opposing beliefs. Business is one area where when it comes to information, that using abstraction can be beneficial, because it lacks a certain personal flair and people can make up their own minds.Detail laden personal beliefs tend to be hard and inflexible, not leaving a customer with a sense of autonomy. I still love the book and as a published author myself, I think this was well done and hope you write more books in the future.

Best Myers-Briggs breakdown out there
I love everything that Personality Hacker does and their book is no exception. It's hands down the best book to help people understand personality typing available. Their breakdown of the cognitive functions is the easiest way to truly understand the depths of insight that the Myers-Briggs system can provide. It's well written with charts and images to help explain the theory as best as possible. If you want to understand yourself and others on a deeper level, this book is a great eye opener.I also highly recommend checking out their podcast as it continues the topics presented in the book and takes them to new levels of understanding. What Joel and Antonia are doing with Personality Hacker is simply wonderful. Not only are they creating great content, but they are creating a community of people interested in personal development. Their Facebook Intuitive Awakening group has been the source of many new friendships and thoughtful and respectful conversations. On top of all that, they are responsible for creating many personality related meet-ups all over the world. So not only can you read and listen to their awesome content, you can participate in the discussion online, or find a meet-up and meet like minded people who are oriented towards personal development. It's a truly wonderful thing.

Great book. Makes you think but is also very easy to understand and grasp the material.
This book breaks down cognituve functions better than anything I have ever seen. I have been facinated with MBTI profiling for decades. And what Joel and Antonia have done here is a labor of love and a work of art. So you think you know what Introvert and Extrovert, Judging and Perceiving, Thinking and Feeling, Sensing or Intuitive mean do you? This book brings far more descriptive meaning to these words ti help put language to thing we may have never been able to explain before. I have already bought two and have enjoied hours of deep conversation based on the information found within. So if you can't tell by now that i love it. Maybe you also need a book on how identify the obvious. Read it, do the work. Grow.

It explains so much!
Antonia and Joel do a wonderful, accessible job of explaining Myers Brigs with the purpose of not just describing a person, but helping you with tools to use type for personal growth. I love their podcast, and the book is an excellent resource. If you want to use it as a journal, you can, but if you don't particularly care to journal (I'm an ESFP and would rather pull out my own hair) you can zip over those parts and keep reading. There are practical suggestions for self-improvement that are made for your type, and there is also a recognition throughout that each MBTI type includes a range of behaviors.

Really useful!! My cat says you won’t regret it!
This is a great MBTI book. I find it easy to read, and appreciate the light slightly humorous tone. There are charming little tidbits, like the table that gives a very brief description of a healthy and unhealthy version of each of the cognitive functions. I’ve referred to it quite a few times. I love how many exercises there are (practically one on each page). It creates so much opportunity for growth. As a fan of the authors, I bought the book partially out of support for them. But I’m actually really glad I did because I found I got even more information about MBTI than I had from their other work. Double bonus! And there’s just something nice about having a physical copy of something in writing. These two do such a great job of breaking down and explaining the MBTI in a way that makes sense and is useful. (I ended up buying both the print and the ebook because I was always lending my hard copy out so didn’t have it to refer to as needed. The other resources out there just aren’t as good.)

Explains what each MBTI type really means
According to Carl Jung there are 8 mental functions. Each person has a specific combination of these 8 functions. This book has a quiz that will tell you what your type is. There are 16 possibilities. You use all 8 functions at various times, but your type is where you feel most comfortable. (You are not confined to a box.) This book helps you understand how you use your top four functions by using a car analogy. Your strongest function is like the driver of a car while your inferior function is like a 3-year-old in the back seat. Under stress it doesn't use it very well. Understanding this helps you make a lot of sense out of your life.

Best book on personality type (theoretical and practical)

Great book on Personality Types and how to use this in your personal growth!
This book gave me a lot of information on personal growth and Personality types. There are a lot of books and information on personality types by Jung and Myers-Briggs, but most are there to give information on theory, where Personality Hacker not only gives this information, but most importantly gives information in how to use this information in your own personal growth.
