Practice Makes Perfect: Exploring Grammar (Practice Makes Perfect Series)

My girls, ages 7 & 9, love this book so far. There is a secret code to solve for each day as an incentive for learning the material. (See photo). We've only just started, but so far I'm really liking it too. I don't have to spend a lot of time with them on it. They have been able to read the tip sheet (which teaches them) then the instructions for the day and once I helped them with the first one so they know what to do, they can work independently for the rest of the days work. I am a homeschool mom of 5 kids. So it's always helpful when they can do some work independently. I currently just have them do one exercise a day (there are 160 of them). So there's plenty of practice for the school year. I'd recommend this book!

My son, who is in fifth grade, has learned so much from doing four pages of this book everyday after school. It's difficult for a shy, quiet, introvert to ask the teacher for help when they don't get what's being taught so coming home and being able to review what was taught in class but at his own pace has helped tremendously. I don't know many fifth graders who understand grammar rules as well as my son and it's all because I started using this workbook with him. It has even been a good review for me!

Fun practice for students but a few of the answers in the answer keys are incorrect. Over all a good practice book.

This is the best grammar book I have ever used. It has very simple clear cut lessons that build on each other. The lessons in this book help even the most struggling student learn the content.

This is one of two books (the second being 'mastering grammar') which contains Tip Sheets to highlight grammatical facts and rules and self-correcting worksheets to provide children with an interesting way to learn and practice grammar skills. . These practice worksheets make the hard copy more useful than the kindle version in my opinion - and give valuable practice in grammar skills. This is an American book, so you must be aware of the American bias and spellings. Although some of the pages may not be relevant, others apply equally to the US and the UK.The book covers Sentences, Nouns, Verbs, Pronouns, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions and Interjections, Punctuation and Capitalisation, Usage and Proofreading. With the new SATS concentrating on punctuation and grammar and well as the new CEM 11+ exams also highlighting spelling, vocabulary and grammar, this is a useful book for KS2.

Great workbook for grammar practise with loads of exercises. There is a puzzle at the end of each exercise which motivates child to get right answer to solve the puzzle. Just be aware that it’s mostly American but the fundamental grammar practise is good.
