Time Power: A Proven System for Getting More Done in Less Time Than You Ever Thought Possible
E**T
A must read for Anyone who wants to spend their time wisely
When I first picked up the book I thought to myself, there is too much information condensed into each chapter. However, I dedicated myself to reading each chapter 3 times. First was a read, the second was a read and highlight, and the third was a read and note taking. Taking this approach everything clicked and I began to put things into action. The first thing I did was to write my goals on notecards and then start reviewing them everyday. The second was the exercise of writing down my goals every morning before starting work. It takes me about 15 minutes to hand write everything out but it's something worthwhile because it brings you into focus on "where" you want to go and "who" you want to become. Automatically you start spending your time differently by doing this exercise. If you gain nothing else from this book, in my opinion you will be miles ahead employing the notecards and morning goal writing. Other things I have put into practice are the filing system of "45 folder" tickler file and A-Z reference file. I also end every work day with a clean desk. The psychology of time management was "spot on" in the first chapter. I spent many years characterizing myself as "spontaneous" but I was always stressed out by my work so I really wasn't as "free" as I thought I was. By employing the principles of this book I have gained more spontaneity than I ever had before. So, it is very true that it's a MYTH that time management makes you a "mechanical and non-flexible" person. In fact, it's the OPPOSITE. Lastly, I have encountered people who have told me this book was outdated and I should check out "getting things done" and I couldn't disagree more. I read GTD book and realized it was almost the exact material in this book but the "terms" and "vocabulary" were changed. Essentially the same message being presented in a different way. If you are serious about Time Management...........this book is a great place to start.

Time Management
I devoured the contents of this book - I finished it and intend to reread it.There are so many words of wisdom and practical advice to take away from the book. Some of the things that I found helpful are (book excerpts):1) Make a clear, unequivocal decision to become absolutely excellent at the way you use your time, minute by minute, and hour by hour. - The book tells us how.2) Visualize yourself as highly efficient. Brian tells us that by mentally rehearsing that we are efficient, we are one step closer to our goal of being efficient.3) Good time management requires that you ask yourself the following questions: "What outputs are expected of me?" "What am I expected to produce?" "Why, exactly, am I on the payroll?"4) Work all the time you work. I love this advise. How many of us spend a part of our work day on wasted time?5) Plan every day in advance. I am trying this one out and so far it has great results, definitely more organized and prepared every day at work.If you are looking for practical ways to be better at time management and succeed, this is the book.
