Good for the beginner.
The body and the tines are of good quality. It does provide a nice sound when you pluck the tines correctly. This is a good beginner instrument. Each of the tines are numbered and lettered so you can follow along. Best used for single note songs but there are ways to play some chords if you know them. It comes with some tutorials (online) and a brief instruction booklet.Overall a good beginner instrument. If you wanted to do more with it you would have to be pretty good.Further review add-on.Just to let you know I got an email from Ranch asking me to provide a review for this new item. So I did. Since then Ranch has contacted me FOUR times basically criticizing my review ("I have checked every word in your comment, but I can not find out there is anything you are not satisfied with about our Kalimba" and they keep contacting me. I can only guess they want me to change my rating. And they are now sending me messages on Facebook. I consider it harassment. So you want more. Fine. This is a VERY limited instrument. The tines are very close together which, if you have average size "thumb" (it is a thumb piano after all) it is a bit difficult to play notes individually. And, unlike most pianos, chords usually require three or more notes and I only have two thumbs like most human beings. So this instrument basically can only play one note at a time. Which is why I say it is good for a beginner. You want to plunk out Jingle Bells this will work for you. You want to play music with an exotic feel to it you would have to be pretty good at this. Add to that they give you a hammer to tune the tines but how do you know what the note SHOULD sound like? You need a tuner (not included). I have a tuner but most people would not.So, like I stated above, this is a good instrument for a beginner. It is limited in the songs it can play. If you like the sound but want to play more complex songs than one note at a time, better to get an electric piano that has a Kalimba-like sound to it.

Cheap but absolutely gorgeous sound
Fairly easy to tune, lovely sound, feels well-built. I went for one of the cheaper kalimbas, not wanting to put in a lot of money for a new hobby, but I was pleasantly surprised. It sounds absolutely wonderful. I could not imagine how a much more expensive kalimba would sound like in real life. I definitely recommend picking this up. I don't know what else to say.

Cute but feels cheap and has a tinny sound and zero resonance
Okay quality but feels a little "cheap" compared to other kalimbas we own. This one is lighter in weight (which could be good or bad, depending upon your needs, but the others are not heavy at all). It's slightly smaller. The tines also sound "tinnier" and lack the pure, bell-like tones that the others have, so I find it a lot less relaxing to play. The sound also does not reverberate very much, and it's difficult to do the "wah" technique (at the sound outlet hole). I was deciding between this and the Gecko one. I ultimately went with this one because of the online lessons (I did not realize at the time that they were free to everyone) and because I thought the heart design was cute. I bought a separate travel case, so I wound up spending more money. That would be okay if I were really pleased with this one. It's not bad, but if I could go back, I'd definitely buy something else.

Highly recommended one!
It's in great condition with a user menu, a little hammer for tunning and the stickers for recognising the keys. The sound quality was really good! The notes were engraved on the keys, that's the thing I appreciate most!I recommend this to everyone who wants to get a nice klimba.

Beautiful sound, well made!
This Kalimba arrived very fast and was well packaged. The Kalimba itself is very beautiful and well made. It was tuned and ready to play. I especially like the fact the keys are engraved (but it also came with stickers to place on the keys, too!). Sounds lovely, smooth wood finish, nice tuning hammer. I highly recommend this for the price!

A beautifully crafted instrument!
This is a beautifully crafted instrument that is not hard to play. We gifted it to my son on his birthday and he was intrigued and delighted with it. The tone is rich and simple melodies sound grand when played on it.I would definitely purchase this for almost anyone on my gift list and know they would like it as much as we all do!

Family fun
Kalimba arrived when promised and was very well packaged. Loved how it was presented in the package. Adult daughter was thrilled to add another instrument to her collection. Husband is excited to take it the local BlissFest Musical Festival this coming summer and grand daughter, 5 years old, loves playing it, too!

Love the peaceful sound
This has a nice peaceful sound. I chose this one above others because it has the notes engraved on the keys. Where the others had the little stickers. This is beautiful. I leave it laying out on the table and enjoy others picking it up and randomly playing it. Would recommend!
