A Welcome Addition to your Bread Baking Library!
Having recently semi-retired, I finally found myself with the time to more seriously take up the baking habit that I'd acquired. I found Adrienne Kane's book at my local library, and it was the perfect starter for the new baker. She easily and clearly explains different ingredients, procedures, and processes, so that you can hit the ground running, and get your first loaf of bread done successfully. With this behind you, you can then move on to some of the more adventurous loaves she describes. I was also intrigued by the fact that someone took the time to research the American heritage in bread. Most other books that I've seen, usually start right in with a few basic loafs, then move right into Artesian and other more exotic breads. It was for this reason that after my library loan was done, I went ahead and purchased a copy to add to my baking book shelf. So if you're a newbie, like me, or if you just want to explore some of America's bread heritage, this is the perfect book for you!

Time to get off your Atkins-raw-Paleo diet and embrace the carbs!!
So excited to get Adrienne Kane's latest cookbook in the mail last week! I loved her pie cookbook, and her latest does not disappoint. She has really done her homework, researching regional bread recipes from all over the US. I always thought sourdough was just for holding a bowl of chowder, but Adrienne has some great twists on the traditional sourdough round loaf. She also includes a chapter on sweet breads (not to be confused with sweetbreads, gross!), my favorite recipe there was for sticky buns. I have made two of the recipes in the book so far, but have been reading it every night, waiting for the weekend when I have time to actually bake. Highly recommend, even for the novice baker, as she includes helpful tips and instructions before most chapters. Yum!

I have enjoyed several recipes from other locations that were from this book. So glad to have it. Plan to bake my way through. The dinner roll recipe is my favorite so far and has been a staple for special occasions.

I cannot say enough good things about Adrienne Kane's cookbooks
I cannot say enough good things about Adrienne Kane's cookbooks. Her recipes are well-chosen, easy to follow, and just about foolproof (says a fool who never realized that a) pie-making or b) breadmaking was considered difficult until Adrienne showed me the ropes). You won't find a better guide through this subject, and you'll love every carb-filled minute!

My FIL will say everything is good so if he said it wasn't something I should ...
I have to say I was bummed. Making regional foods is both a hobby and passion. When I go on vacations etc I look for what is from a specific area. The title was a tad deceiving, when I saw a post of Dutch rolls is what caught my eye. Other then that there isn't anything that says this is New Yorkish or Kentucyish etc its just bread recipes that i've seen for years....But I thought i'd give it a try as bread is what i bake the most. My FIL will say everything is good so if he said it wasn't something I should make again, that is saying something. Wanted to love it just didn't..........
