Pets Primal Joint Care Chews with Hemp Seed Oil

I have a 100 lb AmStaff (90 lbs at the time of the illness), who suffered from immune mediated thrombocytopenia, triggered by a reaction to one of his vaccinations. This is an illness in which the immune system attacks the blood platelets, resulting in blood not clotting. He had to be on an aggressive steroid treatment for about 8 months, and was extremely sensitive to the steroids. He lost all of his muscle mass to the point where there was a week he absolutely could not pick himself off of the ground and could not hold urine in for months. although these side effects were severe, we had no choice. The alternative was for our beloved pup to bleed to death from the slightest bump. He was the epitome of fit at the time, and we watched him deteriorate in front of our eyes. Although it was hard, we were lucky that he overcame this illness. Massive weight gain was expected with this treatment, so although he had recovered, he was now overweight and lacking all of the muscle mass he had built over the years from long walks and even 5K runs. That sure did not break his spirit, though! He has been determined to get back to the level of activity before all this started. The only problem with that is, he pushes himself too much, and this has resulted in a few injuries. The most recent was with his hind leg. Both our primary and emergency vets prefer to take conservative approaches when possible. With his range of motion at the time, the vet did not feel we should move to x-rays or MRIs, as this typically is a path you take when leading to surgery. The lameness/pain was most likely due to the onset of hip dysplasia or a slight tear in a knee ligament. Although surgeries are costly, my this wasn't my main reason of wanting to avoid surgery. I did research and found mixed reviews, but many pointing towards hard recoveries and tears in the opposite leg within a year. I thought how much of the last 2+ years my best bud had spent on bed rest. I thought of how depressed he would become, and I couldn't bear the though weeks of extreme restrictive bed rest. A close friend of mine had a large AmStaff as well who had torn her ACL, and they had great results with Wholistic Brand Powder Supplement. Unfortunately, my guy is a picky eater, and with his illness and injuries, he is very skeptical of hiding medicine inside of food. I was drilling holes into meat pieces to funnel the powder into, with no luck. I figured he would eventually get so hungry, he would just give in and eat it. Silly me. He was on a hunger strike for a week. I found this product, but I could not find too much information or studies on it. I decided to just give it a try. I'm so glad I rolled the dice! It must absolutely have no taste or smell, because when I mix it with meat or pour it on his bones, he eats it with no problem whatsoever! It's been about two months now, and he's improved so much. Last night was the first night he has limped in over two weeks. He may have been overactive since he has been feeling so well. Even so, the difference is night and day from where he started. I'm hopeful he continues to improve to a full recovery. I also think the price is pretty reasonable. Thank you EverEase!
