D3 has a highly complex metabolic pathway. It is very difficult for me to raise my serum levels above minimal sufficiency due to a medical condition. D3-5 works where other brands and liqui caps don't raise my serum levels. This is nearly pure cholecalciferol with only a tiny amount of carrier derived as evidenced by the tiny cap size which also makes it very easy to take. Derived from sheep lanolin but BioTech Pharma also makes a vegitarian formula. I will continue using this Bio-Tech Pharma product as I have for many years now. YMMV. In order to achieve the optimal OH25 serum level with any D3 supplement it is important to draw serum labs. Both too high and too low serum levels are not healthy. Once the satisfactory serum level is achieved with consistent supplementation recheck labs annually.
