Good, but lacks detail and lacks a full year-round program.
I'm not sure why everyone loves this book so much.Pros:It has some 8 and 12-week workout systems. It seems pretty legit. It includes all the major exercises I currently do and a few new exercises I've never heard of, but am excited to try. Each of the programs is for a specific result whether you want pure strength, strength and size, size, or pure power. It has a system for all of it.It's clear in terms of exercise, rest periods, reps, and sets. It even gives terms for some of the exercises so you can superset certain ones if you want.Cons:The book has new exercises I've never heard of and unsure exactly what they are. I look them up online, but find many different versions and wonder what the book wants me to do. One of them, I can't find at all online. The percentages are a PITA. I come from doing 5/3/1 for years, so I know the whys of doing percentages. But, I hate constantly doing math. And I hate working off theoretical numbers. I can't ever quite seem to nail my 1RM. One week could be much heavier than another. I don't know why. So, I just use my working theoretical 1RM, but I don't like systems that use percentages based off 95% of your 1RM. It's a PITA to calculate and constantly reevaluate. What would be great is If they offered an online template you could download into excel, put in your numbers and then print out that weeks sessions. But, manually doing it sucks. I can do my own excel template, but again, it's a PITA. When I buy a book, I want a complete solution. The books flagship 12-week program is recommended to only do twice a year. That's cool, so what is recommended the other 28 weeks out of the year? This is where it falls short. In my opinion, the book should provide a template to keep going the other weeks, maybe toned down, and then twice a year, ramp up into this crazy strength and build mode. But, it doesn't.I bought this book because I'm a little bored with my routines and I'm looking for something to kick it up a few notches. It does meet those criteria. And, it has other 8 and 12-week programs I can try. It also has more specified workouts if you want to focus on your shoulders or chest, which is helpful. For adding a little knowledge, it's ok. But, I think it's an advanced book. You really need to know your stuff. As an intermediate lifter, I was surprised to find exercises I had never heard of. I don't know everything in the world, and I don't claim to, but some of these are out there. Also, I'm sad that the book doesn't provide more guidance on what to do outside of the 12-weeks.I gave it 3 stars because it lacks a full year program I can use. The exercises it recommends are not described anywhere in the book, I have to search google and find several different versions and I'm not sure what the book wants me to do. I don't need massive detail, just a quick description or picture showing the move. I would recommend this book to an advanced lifter, but not to a beginner or intermediate lifter.

Programs that work but for advanced trainees
A superb addition to any serious lifters library BUT be warned. There are so many routines that may encourage excessive program jumping which is bad thing. The "flagship 12 week program", a great program and the heart of the book needs much more explanation and descriptions for most readers to follow as it has some advanced moves that the average gym goer does not encounter. Also some of the percentages for the actual lifts in the program are impossible. For example Zercher squats with 70% of your back squat weight are a darn sight impossible to perform. I dunno I'm relatively advanced and squat over 450lbs. Furthermore the authors do not explain how best top integrate the individual body part routines into an overall program. I know the title says proven programs and this book is all about routines, but some guidance on diet would have been a good idea. With that said do not hesitate to buy this book if you are an experienced gym goer.

ANOTHER WINNER!!!
Josh Bryant hit one out of the ballpark with this amazing ebook! This is not just another book about size and strength! This is a book with TONS of teaching, coaching experience and success behind every sentence written in the book! The book is loaded with training programs, tips, techniques and exercises that actually work and don't waste one's time with empty words not backed by experience! The main feature I like about this book is it's categorized so that you can pick a body part that's lacking in size or in strength or both and go right to that chapter and get schooled on what it takes to succeed! The next thing I love about this book is it's backed by science and has references to various studies throughout the book!If you are after SIZE and STRENGTH then look no further than this Powerhouse of a book! You nailed it with with this one Josh Bryant!!! Thanks for making this goldmine of information available to those that hunger for knowledgeand experience that can transform anyone that's willing to be consistent and hit the pig iron!
