Q: After you mount this to the RP, are you still able to connect it to the stud on a tripod?

No issue connecting to your tripod!!! Works great.

Q: Does this grip work on an eos r?

NO.. this does not fit the R, It has an extra pin on the bottom for a hole the R does not have. I made the mistake of buying it and having to return it. Beach Camera is dead wrong on this.

Q: Does it have any buttons for taking photos while the camera is rotated in portrait mode like normal battery grips?

No. By the way, this is not a battery grip..only an extension grip.
