Sleek, comfy and sized true
I read Silver Ridge shirts are cut slimmer than other Columbia shirt designs so I ordered one in my normal size, small. I'm 5'8" 140LBs with slim athletic build (biker/runner) and, yes, fit is true albeit arms are a little long (cuffs touch palms). Luckily I prefer wearing the sleeves rolled up so no biggie. Cut is slightly fitted but roomy enough for free movement, but not baggy.I choose the "Sedona Sage Plaid" and it's a mellow gray plaid pattern with faded accents of yellow-green, blue and red. It's understated but handsome and dressy enough for a cold one in the brew pub after a hike. The micro fiber fabric is silky, drapes well, cool and soft against the skin. It's a perfect travel shirt: easy to wash in hotel sinks, drys fast and packs compact.UPDATE: I liked the Silver Ridge so much I bought three more in different colors: black plaid, solid black and "Tonal Small Check" (blue plaid). While fit, style and workmanship are exactly the same, the fabrics differ in feel and body. None are as soft as the Sedona Sage Plaid. The black plaid is close but not as silky. However the Tonal Small Check (blue plaid) is stiffer and more prone to wrinkles than the other shirts. All in all the Silver Ridge is a fine shirt: comfy, handsome, protective and easy to care for.

Where the Wants and the Needs meet
I ordered this shirt for a couple hiking trips I have planned in the near future. I wanted to test it out on a local hike before I used it on my upcoming Half Dome trip. The local Hike I used it on was a 15 mile round trip hike with 4800ft elevation gain. The forecast was to be hot (98°F). I loaded up my daypack with 4 liters of water, food, DSLR and some misc items. There are 3 reasons I wanted this shirt for hiking:1. the sleeves roll up and you can fasten them so they stay up2. It actually has sleeves so my arms dont need as much sun screen (which worked perfectly)3. the shirt drys very quickly. When im hiking with a full pack I sweat a lot, especially my back from the backpack. When I took a break I would take my backpack off and it would dry very quickly. The fit for the shirt was great, I usually wear a large in all my shirts so naturally I ordered a large and fit well. I would say it is true to size maybe slightly larger to allow free range of movement. If you are looking for a shirt that is all business I would say give this a try. The protection from the sun with the comfort that this shirt provides is exactly what I was looking for. Ill most likely order more.

Love this brand of clothes!
Pros:Great fit, not too tight or too loose. I am 5'10" 193lbs 34/35" waist and got the large.Great length. I don't tuck these in, and shirt doesn't fall too far down below belt level.Fast drying material.Material is on the thin side, which is great. Not a fan of heavier fabrics that are moisture wicking.Easily washed in the sink - dried over night. I tested this several times!Wash and dry, put on a hanger. No need to iron.Very comfortable.Cons:Small Velcro patch for pockets.Pockets are sewn on one side - hard to get stuff in and out of them. I don't use the pockets.Collar seems a bit too small, but it's ok. Doesn't roll up.Overall, great shirt. Bought a couple of colors and will get a couple more when the price is right. Wore several shirts to a week long vacation at Disney World. They held up great against the heat, and I never worried when it rained because I knew the shirt would quickly dry.

Very comfortable
As a hiker, I wanted a long sleeve shirt that was thin and breathable. This shirt is just that. It wicks moisture, dries quickly, and keeps me cool, as it's well ventilated. The sleeves roll up well and the pockets are useful. It also is a stylish shirt that goes well with any casual hangout with your friends. The shirt also fits true to size (I wear a small and it fits me well) but I'm giving it 4 stars instead of five because the sleeves were surprisingly long - they cover my entire hands when unrolled which annoys me.Overall, a very nice shirt for the outdoors, and a nice casual shirt to wear whenever you'd like!

Expensive,but good product
Another American brand label, subcontracted to SE Asia, and sold at a less than reasonable price. Amazon has listings in the $15 to $65 USD range- good luck with that unless you really need some bizarre size like XXXL and a color like puce.However-quality is very good(esp no loose threads, and itchy collar tag problems). I'm happy with the purchase (having returned a Columbia Out and Back shirt, due to color mismatch with product listing, and rather cheap feel, even for mass produced shirts from SE Asia/China) I wear it in hot humid summer weather, and find that it works pretty well for those sweaty, buggy trips-dries quickly, and washes easily. It's a good choice.

Look good, don't hold up
I love the look and fit of these shirts but they don't hold up very well under active use. I wear them while hiking and I have a backpack on my back which caused the shirt to wear out and pill up on my lower back after only a few days use. I can't say I would recommend them if you are going to use them for anything active...

Good Field Shirts
Good, durable shirts. They survived many months of field work and hand washing in some of more rugged parts of the planet.the pockets are actually useful for smaller phones, papers, etc. The fabric is more breathable and softer than a similar REI-branded one, which makes these more comfortable but leads me to question whether it really has the same UV protection. The different colors that I got have minor styling differences and solids feel more rigid than the plaid. The light solid color fabric also holds blood stains much more. The Large size fits a 6ft, 182lb frame well.

lightweight but needs to be ironed
...and even when you iron the thing, it gets super wrinkled really quickly. Otherwise, it's a nice shirt, and it dries quickly.

Very good quality
I like Columbia shirts with UV protection because they are very light and do not need ironing. They are also very well tailored to not preserve the sweat. Very good quality and well resistant over time. The only thing I don't appreciate is the high price sold on amazon, but this is another story.
