This beautiful grey hare is carved from a solid piece of Russian birch. In addition to the sweet and knowing face of the hare is the stunning snowy scene painted all around. A young Russian boy takes a moment to pet the docile, hungry deer looking for winter berries. Birds fly through the cold air and around the cathedrals in the distance. As with all of Solodilov work, careful detail is in every aspect of this piece from the carving of the rabbit to the delightful painted expressions of children and forest animals.
