Disney Descendants: School of Secrets: CJ's Treasure Chase

My almost 5 year old daughter is a huge Descendants fan. She also loves pirates and her initials happen to be CJ (she even kind of looks like CJ Hook) so I thought this book would be perfect for her. She does love it and my husband and I have read it to her at least 5 times now. She loves Mal and was hoping to hear more about her but she's hardly mentioned in the story. Nevertheless it's a fun story, very kid-friendly, adventurous without any scariness, and a decent moral. Now I'll be investing in several more Descendants books I'm sure!

Though a little childish at times, this chapter book (good for teens or advanced early readers) is a nice continuation of the story of the Descendants. It ties into the little mini episodes that were on youtube that takes place with the Neon Lights Ball and continues the story of what CJ was doing there and her plans. Just be prepared for a lot of "pirate" sayings like shiver me timbers, walk the plank, creepy crabs, etc. That took away from the story along with hearing how great pirates are or pirates are meant to do things like this over and over and over. Still though, a must read for a fan of the show.

Love it but wish the author hadn't used "stupid" so much, we don't use that word in our house

I bought this book to read with my kids. When I opened the package it was so inviting I started reading it before they even got home from school. It is so well written that it actually drew me into the story as an adult. I can't wait for bedtime to share it with them. Beautiful cover art, and amazingly detailed description and effective storytelling to draw you in and make you a life long reader! That's what I want in the books my kids read. Thanks again Disney! What's next! I'm "hooked" get it....because CJ....

Just love the way the plot of this book is inter weaven through DESENDANTS WICKED WORLD specials with what CJ was doing behind the scenes before she made her appearance in the show. seeking out her father Captain Hook secret. Makes me hope that Disney got someone to play her when Descendants 2 comes to TV.

Great books for the 3rd - 5th grade levels. My daughter absolutely loves this series and not too difficult reading. I bought a few more books for her birthday and she could not be happier.

Love the book!!! Captain Hook has always been my favorite Disney Villian, and it is great to see the story of his daughter begin to unfold. CJ is a cool character who I am happy to have in the Descendants world.This is a cute story that will keep you entertained. As CJ and Freddie go on a pirate adventure to uncover treasure you find yourself figuring out the clues with them and becoming invested in he lives of the characters. It is a great book for kids, a light read, or any Descendants fan.

This book takes the reader through a lot of adventure. Very fun to read. I also liked the friendship of Freddie and CJ.

Daughter can't get enough of this series. Better than the movies.
