Great little tool, painless and easy.
I fought with my poor pup for days.I went to Amazon, and was skeptical about this product as the reviews were mixed.I couldn’t be happier with the product.Mind you, this product is plastic. An animal can easily bite through and break the syringe if allowed. My pups won’t bite my hand, and keeping them calm is really important.I keep a few fingers in their mouths to prevent them from biting the syringe, then stick the syringe in the mouth / throat just behind the rear teeth.Though the next step is crucial in completing this process, at least for me and in my experience.I find I have to keep my pups head arched up, basically looking at the ceiling. This is for the swallowing process, because if they tilt their head down or to the side- they can potentially spit up the pill..(Hopefully the pill isn’t completely destroyed on the upchuck process, though now you have to start back at the beginning with a upset / alerted doggy)I like to also gently rub from their throats up under their chin and count to 10 in this process of holding their head up. It’s more natural and feels like petting them rather than forcing their head up.I bought more than one and haven't needed any of the spares, I highly recommend.I would also like to thank all parties involved in my purchase, from add to cart - to delivery at my doorstep. Even after product use. I am thankful for how this makes my life and all my animals lives so much easier. It showed up in 2 days, as promised. Damn good job 👍

Does not work with small pills at all
For years I had been using the so-called Pet Piller to administer medications to my cats. Recently, one of my cats was diagnosed with a heart murmur and now is on half a beta blocker pill per day. Since this pill is small as it is, cutting it in half makes it very tiny, and the pet piller doesn't really work that well anymore. The pill either falls out again or gets stuck betwen the plunger and the rubberized tip. So based on a favorable review here, I ordered the Bull's Eye.When I got it, I could tell immediately that the opening was way too big to be able to hold the half-size Atenolol. Trying it out confirmed it - the opening is about 4 times as big as the pill it needs to dispense.I also found the handling of this piller tedious. The plunger comes out easily (and it has to, because the pill is loaded from the back end) and to actually administer the pill, the piller needs to be held in a certain way with the index finger resting between two "guides", which left me with a lot less flexibility than I needed to successfully use it with my cat (if the opening were small enough in the first place).I would return it but return shipping would probably cost me more than I paid for it, so maybe I'll just pass it on to someone who needs to give huge pills to their animal.

Excellent
When I first opened the package I wasn't too sure if I would like this item. I thought the barrel might not be long enough and didn't seem like there was enough power to pop out a pill. Then I looked back on Amazon and saw pill poppers that looked the same but much cheaper. Thought about returning this for a cheaper item. But it was almost time to give my fur baby Esther her 2 pills (which I crush and put in capsules) so I decided to give it a try. And maybe cheaper ones are not made as well. Put a little pill wrap around the capsules but not on the ends. Did each one separately . They fit nicely in the barrel. The barrel was a perfect length and the pills popped out amazingly and Esther swallowed them right down. I've been putting the capsules in a couple teaspoons of canned food. Sometimes she eats the food right down with the pill. Other times eats everything but the pill and I have to end up putting the pill in her mouth by hand. I buy different flavors of canned food so she doesn't get bored but that doesn't always work either. So after many stressful weeks this pill gun is a blessing. IT is awesome and works perfectly and is sturdy. Highly recommend for capsules and large pills.

Finally found something that works for my pill adverse dog
I have a 12 pound Maltese who is not food driven and it has been impossible to disguise any pill in her food. I have tried everything but have had to resort to using my fingers to shove a pill down her throat. It had been especially difficult with her monthly heartworm pill since I also had to make sure that it didn’t get spit out and caught in her beard. Recently, she had to take an antibiotic for an infection in her paw and it was daily frustration. Finally, I got some advice from a dog rescue volunteer who has to administer numerous pills to dogs with all sorts of issues and temperaments. She mentioned the success she had using a pill gun.I was skeptical but it was so very simple and the pill shoots straight down her throat without giving her an opportunity to taste and reject it.This Bullseye pill gun is not a heavy duty item but it works as described. I think that the lightweight plastic is probably best for avoiding injury to the throat which I find more important than durability.Smaller pills or pieces of a pill need to be wrapped in a larger piece of food for this gun to work. I still have bags of unused pill hiders and I find that I can break a piece off and roll into a bigger ball around the smaller pill.I am quite pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone else who has a pill adverse dog.
