Awesome smartphone for people on a budget
My brother, an ex-Android fan had to switch to this due to its low price and boy he was satisfied. Even as a tech-savvy and advanced user he expressed his delight with the phone a lot. It still lacks a few important things that I will list but at this price range, I think it is unbeatable. -1 stars if you don't care about the price.A few things I wish were different:1. Slightly better build quality. The plastic cover feels good but I still expected something a bit more sturdy.2. Windows Phone 8 is GREAT. Yes I'm serious but it can definitely use more apps3. The new IE on WP8 is great too, but I'd like to be able to use Firefox or Chrome too occasionally.4. 8 GB storage is not much, especially almost half of it is used by the system. I mean this is probably related to the low price and since it has an SD card slot not a very big deal.

The Nokia Lumia 520 is an awesome phone but make sure you get the right one.
My wife and I bought the international version because it said that it was unlocked. We thought that meant it was the right one to get if you want to use straight talk for your cell phone service in the US. It does work but you can only get GSM or EDGE cellular service NOT 3G or 4G. So if you are in the US and you want to use a Nokia Lumia 520 with the straight talk plan get the Nokia Lumia 520 GoPhone (AT&T) which is also sold here on Amazon.com. That one will let you use the 3G and 4G service that straight talk has. With that phone we are now able to get 4G and it is way better than being stuck with only EDGE service.

Won't Work!
I wanted to like this phone but I spent 2 hrs and $35 on a prepaid card only to have the phone deny AT&t network? In the description it states it will work with this network. I live in the USA. Any suggestions????

Nokia Lumia 520 will no longer tether after updating to Windows 8.1 Phone
I like this phone but as someone else has mentioned it is not completely unlocked. Do a search on: "Nokia Lumia 520 will no longer tether after updating to Windows 8.1 Phone"If tethering or internet sharing is important to you be forewarned. Although some had said you can configure your phone to work with your carrier. Expect lengthy calls to tech support requiring persistence. I expect it will be fixed in future releases but some believe the phone has been intentionally crippled.I am now debating whether to return the phone. My only problem is that I do need internet sharing...
