A new one was around £30. I had to try changing the sensor. I bought this and in 15 minutes, we had a perfect calibrated and functioning joy-con. Just be gentle with the ribbons and connectors when opening the case and have pacience. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Replacing my original stick with this one killed 47% of my soul *by L***K on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 March 2019* So the kit you get is pretty excellent. The tweezers are good and do the job and the screwdrivers are excellent and the perfect size for the screws.The joystick itself is perfect quality. Seems like the official nintendo one...... one reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaally annoying difference though.When you come to connect the ribbon cable for the new joystick back into the main joycon, it’s a bit like trying to drive a car through the eye of a needle. It’s physically impossible.I’m good with my hands. I’m excellent at taking things apart and putting them back together. But this thing is NOT going into that connecter. Not in a million years.So I tried to gently get it back in with the tweezers, wasn’t going anywhere. Tried gently wiggling it side to side as I pushed it back in. Nah. Not going in.I tried and tried until eventually I noticed that the ribbon cable, only being thin plastic, had ripped.Yay.So now my choices are: waste my money and my time and put back the original drifty stick.Or, take apart the joystick housing (the bit with the sensors inside) of both joysticks so that I can use the original nintendo sensors and ribbon cable with the new joystick.I went for the second option.So in the end this was a success replacement and my joycon now works like new with no joycon drift. But this took over an hour and a half to do in the end because the joystick housing (especially on the Nintendo joystick) does NOT want to come apart. And it’s not much more keen on going back together.The original Nintendo ribbon cable slipped back in with no problems at all.I feel like i’m now fully qualified to start a career as an open heart surgeon.So basically this thing is super great, but be prepared to have to take apart and fix the most fiddly little ba****d in the world ever. To begin with I didn't believe him, but when we did some Googling I discovered that "joycon drift" was a big problem; then when looking at the controller calibration on the switch it was obvious that one of the control stick was completely malfunctioning. I looked at the various options (buy a new joycon (and throw the existing one away? what a waste!), send it back (no joycon for several weeks) - or buy a kit. After a bit of research this one seemed like a good one and a good price so I ordered it. Received it today. Brilliant little kit - everything you need plus a nice little thank you note from the seller! On the basis of another review I also used the Spawn Wave video on Youtube as a guide. As it happened, my joycon had several notable differences from that video (right not left, screws under battery in a different place, no need to remove minus button connector), but I just gave it my best shot - and it all went pretty smoothly. It took me 35 minutes, but at least 10 of that was because I found a spring and wasn't sure where it came from; took a while (and more videos) to track it down to the ZR button. The joycon is now working perfectly, as new - drift problem 100% rectified. I'm not an electrical engineer (or even an engineer), although I'm fairly comfortable tinkering inside a PC - and I found it pretty easy.
