Got this for starting a dubia roach colony and it comes with everything you need to get started!

We started our own roach colony back in March. Since we were spending about $20 a week on roaches for our Beardie. The roaches sure do go through the water crystals. However I sure will say that the crystals go a long ways. The little pack that comes with this set is not gone yet. I just hydrate some as we need it, a 16 oz jar. Have not counted the number of times I’ve filled it. Probably 10 times and there’s still crystals to be used. You want to use these egg crates to as you can be sure that they haven’t been sprayed with anything, unlike the ones used for eggs.You want plenty of ventilation on your container, if you don’t have enough it’s going to start stinking and the such.We first just tried getting a bunch of roaches from the pet store to see if they would start breeding. Bad idea they only sell the females there. So you need to get the ones they sell here in pairs. One male can breed up to 4 females I think. The ones that are sold here in 1-2 females is good.UpdateWe are getting our second starter kit next week, the first ones are getting pretty soiled from being in there over a year. Think we have gone through 5#s of roach chow by them also.

It provided everything I needed for my new colony of breeding roaches, for my bearded dragons. The packet of crystals has four cups of crystals and no real instructions for only making a handful of them, so I now have a container of water crystals in my fridge.

It turns out that the kit did not include instructions, so I had to look up information on the Internet in order to figure out how to make the water crystals and feed the roaches properly.Despite this issue, however, I am happy with my purchase overall. The kit includes a pound of feeder roaches, which is more than enough to get me started and keep me going for quite a while. The roaches themselves seem to be healthy and active, and I feel good knowing that I am providing my pet with quality feeder food that I can rely on.Overall, I would recommend the G&T Country Living Dubia Roach Colony Starter Kit to anyone who is looking to raise their own roaches for feeding purposes. Just be aware that you may need to do some research on your own in order to get started properly. But, once you're up and running, you'll have a reliable source of feeder food that you can feel good about using for your pet.

Purchased this to start my dubia roach colony.Tossed the egg crates in a bin. Put some water crystals in a bowl. Waited for my roaches to arrive.So far so good. One thing I noticed? This stuff is great for roaches. BUT... my isopods are chowing it down as are my worms. Especially the worms. This stuff is great for my earthworm bin. I have a large bin that I keep. I've been trying to feed them compost and scraps, but they take forever with that stuff. A sprinkle of this on the top of the dirt disappears before it has time to mold. They're growing quickly. I'm pretty thrilled with it.

Everything arrived well packed and ahead of schedule. Directions are clear and easy to follow. We loaded our stuff into a 10 gal aquarium with a mesh lid- and we keep it in a darker area of one of the bathrooms. We bought 1000 to start it off, it’s been 2 weeks and they seem content, hoping to see babies in a month or so…

This is a great kit for both starting a dubia colony or just a refresh to your current colony! Egg crates, dry food, water crystals are awesome too! Decibel will buy again when I need a refresh!
