My 9 year old son was in need of some constructive things to do this summer, so this is one of the kits that I decided to buy him. This by far was one of his favorite. The directions were simple enough that he was able to put the boat together all by himself. He loves to be able to say he did it himself! The solar power worked great on this. It doesn’t move real fast but good enough to make him happy. He likes to play with it in the pool. He claims the best position to get it to move is upside down.

nice kit, but needs bright sun light
Ok, nice kit, but needs bright sun light, fan not very powerful even then - struggles to push it along, good learning tool, but poor toy

great science kit
My grandson loved this science kit. I bought it because we have a small pond and the other plastic play boats would capsize and the RC boats stop working when the battery gets wet. So this was the perfect solution, and we're not wasting batteries. The boat floats and moves just like it is supposed to. And then he went on to make the other items. We had a discussion about solar power; hopefully this made an impression on a young mind.

Will NOT push the boat
One of the missing features of this toy is the propeller does not push the boat at all, though the solar engine works and will make the propeller spinning.
