Good Book, Poor Binding Choice
I was really excited to see that Oxford University Press had decided to make hardcover editions of their books. This publisher provides some of the best commentary and background information for every book they make, and are really well respected, so I always try to purchase their version of a book, if at all possible. Unfortunately, their hardcover books are pretty lackluster. Don't get me wrong, the content is great, and the commentaries & notes are still top quality, but the binding is underwhelming. Many high-quality hardcover books will have their books made in a manner that's durable and strong. Usually this involves making signatures (a group of pages folded together) that are sewn together, and glued at the spine. This method is tough, and won't fall apart if someone lays the book flat, because the entire textblock is not only sewn together, it's glued together (and depending on how big the book is, there might be additional backing support sewn and glued in place). That's not how these books are made.Instead, all that appears to have been done with this particular binding is that the binder has literally taken a mass-market paperback version of the book, and glued it to their hardcover. This is very inexpensive to do, and it's a poor binding method for a book such as this. This means the spine can wear out. You can break the textblock if you try to flatten out the book, which means the individual pages near the break(s) can fall out. Furthermore, the paper is the same type of paper that they user in their paperback books. This paper is prone to yellowing with age, and is another inexpensive choice the binder has made. I'm very disappointed that this binding choice was made. Two stars because the content is still top notch, but the binding & paper choices are unforgivable.

His greatest ability is putting all the characters' together in the ...
Its the second novel by Dickens I've read and as before I get lost in the story but by the last two chapters it all comes together. Dickens English is hard to read at times but manageable. His greatest ability is putting all the characters' together in the story and than finishes it. I would still recommend to read this novel.
