School of the Prophets

This is a well written book on the subject. The author is up front in that he understands there are various expressions of prophetic ministry around today. He clearly states this by stating he is simply sharing insights he has personally learned and that he wanted to make it clear this was not the final word on prophets or prophetesses, nor is it the only view on the subject that people should embrace. He does however begin to distinguish how New Covenant Prophets function compared to Old Covenant Prophets. This distinction is what makes this book such a gem. (This does not mean we cannot learn or value some qualities of Old Covenant Prophets, it simply means there is a New Covenant now that is founded upon better promises and a better way of doing things.)What many fail to realize surrounding this subject is the different “ages” or eras in the Biblical timeline. Let me explain this so you understand why the author’s book is so important for our day.In Jesus day, He was born into a time where, by the end of his generation, the Old Covenant was going to be made obsolete. This Old Covenant age then was disappearing (Heb 8:13) and Jesus made it clear that the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem would be one of the final signs this Old Covenant was done away with for good, as He was usher in the New Covenant based upon what He was calling the “Kingdom of God” (Gods rule with man, see Luke 12:32). We further see in the pages of Scripture and history that He was teaching a new way of understanding God and life. He was bringing a Kingdom to a world devoid of understanding the nature of God and His will for the earth and into a world where a dysfunctional covenant was about to be removed (Dysfunctional because of people not because of God). This is why he talked so much about the Kingdom of God and how it would be established in His generation and why He and his followers were to proclaim it was “at hand” (Mark 1:15). We know this because Jesus continually taught on the Kingdom reality and He would say things like, “You have heard it said, but I tell you”, or “Be careful of the reasoning of the religious leaders” or “The Kingdom of Heaven is like” or “Truly some of you standing here will not taste death until you see the Son of Man coming into His Kingdom” or “It is the Fathers good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.”This understanding of the transition out of the Old Covenant and into the New is the vary foundation upon which Jesus was building a people of God who would function in different gifts and offices, which brings us to the New Covenant Prophet. It is here where the author so brilliantly begins to give insight into the core values of the Kingdom that launch a person called to be a prophet or prophetess into a better understanding of how they are to function and operate in this New Covenant age. There are countless little points the author makes that will help people discern their callings, spheres of influence, the diversity of prophets, the difference between prophets and people who simply give prophecy and other topics that bring you into a deeper understanding of prophetic ministry. So it is with this understanding that I highly recommend this book and just as the author has stated, I don’t need this to be the definitive work on the subject but I do think it is a highly valuable book that will give people great insight and context surrounding the subject. It will empower and help mature prophetic communities, while adding to the growing understanding of the New Covenant prophetic ministry that is powerfully changing the world through those who embrace it.

Many books are written regarding the works of a prophet in the modern day times. But one rarely gives such insight as to the issues that arise due to our human error. We know this is a very difficult time for God's people but books such as these will entice others to join in to fight the works of the devil as Jesus says to do in His Word. We are not just conquerors. We are His children and will continue to fight the good fight until all are saved from the evil one. We are very blessed to have a mentor such as Kris Valloton. He deserves our support. This book is a must read for all who are interested in doing God's work in these troubled times. Not all are called to the office of a prophet but all who believe are called to be filled with God's Holy Spirit and to receive the supernatural gifts that He brings to us with His presence in us. Prophecy is one such gift that all can use when called upon by God to bless others around us. This book explains all we need to know and to look for when performing these special works. Reading this book has been an eye opening experience for me as I am sure it will be for others. Do not worry that this is another interesting read and nothing more. These words are spoken by a prophet of the most high God. He has ordained that this man be in the position where He has placed him. All who hear him speak understand this. I encourage you to get this book and read when you are least likely to be interrupted. I found myself reading pages over and over until I could understand the true and powerful message completely. Five stars definitely!

“School of the Prophets” by Kris Vallotton is an engaging and insightful exploration into the prophetic ministry. Vallotton, with his characteristic blend of wisdom and humor, guides readers through what it means to hear from God and speak His words with authority and love. The book is filled with practical teaching, personal stories, and biblical insights, making the complex subject of prophecy approachable and relatable. Vallotton’s passion for empowering others to step into their prophetic calling shines through every page, making it not just an instructional manual, but an inspiring journey for anyone looking to deepen their spiritual gifts. It’s a must-read for anyone curious about or called to the prophetic.

This book has good information and learning values.

It takes up from where his 1st book "Basic Training For The Prophetic Ministry" left off. This goes deeper into each area. Great information!!!
