PURA PhosLock GFO Phosphate Removal Media - 150 gram

This is perhaps the best phosphate remover on the market. I've tried the competition, but this one gets 5 stars.

Just pump in sump and forget about. No reactor needed. I had high phosphates and within 12 hours of recommended dose was at zero. Mind blown. Great to see a product actually work beyond expectations.

Opened the top and the seal was open. That's strike #1 as the effectiveness of this type of media (unlike dry gfo) becomes drastically reduced if allowed to dry out, hence the seal to begin with. Since the seal was broken I weighed it on a food scale. Strike #2 only 135g of media. I've bought this media like 5 times before over a period of years so I know what full is suppose to look like. That 15g missing wouldn't matter to me if I got an all time deal but this product is far cheaper from online fish stores. I paid a premium for the convenience of quick Amazon shipping so I expect to receive it how it's suppose to come (sealed with 150ish g of media).

Didn't do nearly as well as other brands

I purchsed 55 lbs. of Phoslock last spring and applied it as directed. This spring the slimy floating algae scum on my pond is a hundred times worst then ever. I have spent the last 6 weeks skimming and scooping dozens and dozens of wheelbarrow loads off my pond and entire new mats form literally in minutes. This has been a frustrating exhausting effort- no end in sight. So much for locking up the limiting factor- phosphates.
