Maelstrom Is Defeated, Or Is He
With the defeat of Maelstrom in the school gym, Horizon should have left Hikaru's body but he hasn't. Apparently time is needed for Hikaru's body to recover. With summer vacation going on, Hikaru and her friends want to get their homework done and out of the way. That is however, until Hikaru recieves a postcard. The postcard is from a childhood friend, sending one every year he asks her to return to the island. This time she accepts, but just so she can visit her father's grave. Her friends, accompanying her for moral support, plan to enjoy themselves. But, it seems a surviving Maelstrom has other ideas. This volume is much deeper in plot than the first, and seems to be a great improvement. A lot more depth is added to the main character and a deeper understanding of her wanting to withdraw is felt. The artwork is much improved with a greater degree of thrill, and suspense, as well as a greater feeling of other emotions like despair and melancholy. This volume I think redeems any of the lacking qualities of the first volume and gives me a much greater belief that the series will be very entertaining.

An interesting manga title that picks up steam in volume 2
Volume 1 of 7 Billion Needles surprised me with an interesting protagonist and a thoughtful tone I wouldn't have expected in a science fiction/horror manga. Volume 2 continues that trend, while adding more depth and character development, as well as some interesting but subtle plot twists. I'm looking forward to reading the remaining two volumes.

Great follow up to volume 1's strong start.
7 Billion Needles is a cohesive, building story and this volume continues directly from volume 1. It's best to start reading from the beginning.Armed with new friends and dealing with the aftermath of the strange events that have risen up around her, Hikaru decides to revisit the island she grew up on and face the past that still unsettles her.Volume 1 was a fantastic start for this manga that left a fair number of open questions. Many of these are answered in volume 2, with different ones taking their place as the story proceeds in unexpected yet logical ways. Managing that while keeping the reader engaged and maintaining the established pace, atmosphere and style is an impressive achievement. The core of this volume is quite emotional and it dovetails nicely with philosophical questions and themes being examined. There's also a very nice hook at the end to set up the next volume.7 Billion Needles is proving to be a wonderful little science fiction series with a lot of heart.

Yup
This is ridiculously good. It is seriously one of the best 600 odd manga I have read. Otaku approved. Buy it if you like violence and aliens and genuinely interesting characters, I really do highly recommend this manga.
