Verilog Hdl: A Guide to Digital Design and Synthesis Subsequent Edition

This is a well balanced book that covers both Verilog design and and a clear complete reference. My background is in embedded software engineering and I wanted to learn something new so I decided so programing and FPGA in Verilog seemed like a good fit. I had previously purchased a book focused on examples which was not a good fit for me since I had never done and programming in Verilog before.I looked at new books but the price was high since they all seemed to be for College students or professionals. But I needed something more for an advanced hobbyist. So I found this gem used for a great price. It was noted that the book was used and only had minor issues so I took a chance.Turns out the condition was like new and clearly used by a college student since the SMALL number example multiple choice quizzes had the answers marked with a fine mechanical pencil and the included CD had not even been opened. I note SMALL number of quizzes since the number does not waste space that is better used for information.The book has a perfect balance of design and reference material. I am impressed by the amount of very clear information. This book is excellent at pacing the information you need. It is smart about giving examples at the beginning that focus on the early information you need and rather than getting into the more complex ideas early just indicates these other more advance topics with come is a specified later chapter.If you can find a reasonable priced used version of this book and want are a hobbyist, student or a professional and want to learn Verilog, buy this book.The book is completely hardware agnostic but I am using a Tang Nano 9K FPGA Development Board which is inexpensive and works great. Be aware if your background is software Verilog is really a hardware engineering tool and as such is not the same as another software language.

Covers the basic material but not an eloquent author. I don't expect him to be loquacious but the treatment of some topics is pretty dry.

Nice text. Good examples. More ASIC related. Also check out text from Bhaskar. Actually Bhaskar text was my absolute first text in Verilog and that is where I learnt to write code.

The introduction says the book emphasises breadth rather than depth. This seems to contradict the description on Amazon. The author appears to think that carry-lookahead adders have a constant (and not O(log n)) depth (section 6.5.2, page 109). Not good value for money.

Great book for beginner to jump start their career. contains various design file related to digital design. Properly described all the methodologies related to design.

The media could not be loaded. I am a btech ECE student, and this book was suggested by my teacher for verilog hdl basics after going through it online, i found it very beginner friendly, so I bought a second hand version of the book, it looks like only one year is used, so feels like somewhat new only, no torn up pages not overwritten by markers, very satisfied with the book I received.
