German WW1 M1917 M17 STAHLHELM Helmet 18 Gauge Steel Construction

The product came undamaged and was very carefully packaged in several layers of bubble wrap. It is exactly as shown in the pictures, and, although I don't have a genuine helmet to compare it to, from the pictures of the helmets I've seen it does seem to be an accurate recreation.

My M17 helmet arrived today. The helmet was well packaged in two separate layers of bubble wrap. The inner layer had “1917” written on it for easy identification at the warehouse I presume. Upon removal of the bubble wrap I immediately noticed a not insignificant scratch on the right side of the helmet, just above the rivet for the chin strap attachment. The scratch went through the paint and primer right to the bare metal. I thought this was odd given how well packaged it was. The scratch doesn’t bother me because I intend to repaint the helmet in a camouflage pattern later, however others may be upset by such a noticeable scratch. This is the only reason I knocked off one star. For some reason there was a broken head from a helmet liner split pin rattling around I. The helmet. For a second I thought I might have a broken split pin but they were all intact. I don’t have an authentic M17 to measure this helmet against but the size and proportions look fairly accurate. It’s very solid and has heft. The chinstrap is thin but doesn’t seem cheap or flimsy. The helmet paint seems very gray. Other M17s and M16s I have seen have more of a gray-green color. The helmet easily fit my 7 3/8 head. I would say it would fit someone who’s head is a couple sizes larger than that as well. Overall I nicely done replica for the price. I can’t wait to finish my paint job and add it too my collection!
