good, for an introductory text
I was hoping for a more advanced book. The author, who has several business books on a variety of topics, provides a genereal survey of doc control issues. if you have any experience in the document control or records management fields, you can skip this one.

Useful for standards conformance/compliance projects
This is a very accessible and practical book. I think this would be of particular interest to those who are dealing with any type of international/national/industry standards activity. If you're questioning what the different terms mean and how you should interpret them, this should help you out. If nothing else, read and consider the content from the perspective of "is my documentation control strategy sufficient?" I think it's a good resource for this.

very brief description of the subject. will give you some ideas but i think that you should spend your money on a better book.

Excellent overview
This is a straightforward, clear overview of document control. I think it is especially useful for presenting document control concepts to those whose primary function is not document control but who are being asked to comply with such a program. The book was shorter than expected, and one may need to look beyond this book for more detailed instruction in implementing a large-scale document management or document control program.

Too simple for the topic
I was excited to see a book on documentation and made the mistake of ordering it without seeing a few reviews from other readers. 68 pages is barely enough for a couple of chapters, certainly not enough for a $20 book. Save your money and wait for a better book to come out, or read "Business Process Improvement Workbook" from Harrington, Esseling and Nimwegen which I would give 5 stars. This is the most disappointing business book I have ever purchased.

Badly organized with limited value for the money
This booklet left me with mixed feelings. The Pros:- This is arguably the only introductory book you can find on document control- Covers basic topics such as document control roles and responsibilities, document writing and distribution- Gives some level of practical advice- Well composed and easy to read- Was delivered on time as promisedThe Cons:- With only 68 pages and 5 more pages of attachments, the book offers limited information and you can only call it a booklet- The book dedicates three of the first four chapters to discussing really basic topics (what are documents? what types? and how do they relate to records?). These are all good topics and lay the foundation to the book, but should not have taken 30 pages in a 68-page booklet.- Furthermore, the 5th chapter on tips for document writers felt odd to have in a document control booklet of this size and provided little value.- The book offers little help to intermediate or advanced readers since many more useful topics in document control are missing. I also felt in some some of the topics in the book could have been more explained.- Some contents are outdated. The book was published in 2005 and not revised since. However, since then some details the book refers to for instance the ISO 9001:2000 have been updated (in 2008).- A price of nearly 46 dollars excluding delivery is simply too much and offers little value. I notices it sells for half the price in the US Amazon.Hope my review helps.
