Little Giant Sheep and Goat Feeder Basic Goat and Sheep Feeder and Hay Rack (Item No. 168779)

Easy to put together but had a problem with threading on one bolt. The good far outweighs that issue though. 1) The hay rack itself makes the goats take smaller bites and a lot of what is pulled out drops on the tray 2) The goats actually willingly clean up what lands in the tray. (That would normally be waste once it hits the floor) 3) Its width makes it more stable than the previous feeder and they have not knocked it over.It is used inside a building. It would probably rust if left out in the weather because the galvanizing is not top grade. For the price, it works great.I run 8 head of Boer does and keep it loaded with hay. It is fairly tall and would not be suitable for small breed goats (as noted in another review). I would not use it for younger goats for the same reason.I like it enough that I came back to buy another for my wethers but it is not available right now. So I left a review instead.

This hay feeder is a perfect size for my five sheep. I’d say six sheep is about the max that you want with this feeder. The construction is really great, but this was a bit hard to get together. The nuts seem a little too small for some of the screws and a few couldn’t be tightened all the way. The price was great and free shipping was the best thing yet. This sits out in the Northwest weather and has stayed together well. One thing I had to modify was the hay bin. It only has two small holes on either end to let rain drain. The hay clogs the holes and water collects in the corners unless it’s perfectly level, which is almost impossible in a field. I drilled a few more holes around and that solved it. I’m happy, however, and am glad I bought this.

Had to purchase new nuts and bolts. Aluminum ones broke while assembly. Otherwise work great. Would like a couple more but no longer available.

They cannot reach the hay so they jump in the tray and crap all over it so they don't eat the hay in the tray anymore (hey Im a poet :))

Very sturdy and works great as both a hay and grain feeder.

I have both large goats Bohr and Small pigmy goats the feeders work great for both but you have to place a raised platform so the pigmy goats can eat in comfort. Same goes for creep feeding baby goats. If people would be observant they would easily figure this out.Goats are very smart animals and can some times out think those folks that have had little or no experience raising them.

Missing parts, came bent. You can only contact dealer via email. Sooo disappointed.
