The astounding new novel from the bestselling and Costa-shortlisted author of Time Travelling with a Hamster , this is a story for everyone of ten and older who loves adventure, laughs and tears. โOne of my favourite middle-grade writersโ Kiran Millwood Hargrave, author of The Girl of Ink and Stars When eleven-year-old Georgie befriends an eccentric retired scientist, she becomes the test subject for a thrilling new experiment: a virtual-reality 3D version of the future. But then a deadly disease threatens the life of every dog in the country and Georgieโs beloved dog, Mr Mash, gets sick. And thatโs only the start of her troubles. Soon, Georgie and Mr Mash must embark on a desperate quest: to save every dog on earth, and maybe even all of humanity โฆ โฆ without actually leaving the room. An extraordinary quest with the biggest stakes of all, and a huge idea at its heart, this is time travel โ but not as you know it. Review: Amazing!! - This is amazing, one of my favourite books! Review: Brilliantly written inspite of a being a story for children - This is a an incredibly apt story right now, in the midst of the cov19 pandemic. Picked this one up initially from my local library app to read with my daughter (8 years old), didn't finish it in time, so picked it up on kindle. Hooks you in straight away, characters are relatable and likeable, my daughter really emphased with the main character and the way it was written really played into that, the dialogue and interactions Georgia were realistic and brilliant. Level of the prose is perfect for a young reader of around 8-10, and has helped my daughter greatly to improve. Wholeheartedly recommend as a bedtime read for a young boy or girl to share with a parent, really enjoyed this one, and for fear of repeating myself, scarily accurate in times like these.

A right rollicking read
I read this book much more quickly than the author's previous books (which I loved just as much). This is because it is quite an action-adventure, although still with all the humour and attention to scientific accuracy that we have come to expect from his books. The characters are extremely well-drawn and the tension builds and builds....thoroughly recommended. And he never ever talks down to his audience. I always imagine that children and teens who read Welford's books must become so much more literate and smart, with a better vocabulary...

Worth a read
I really enjoyed this book, it has a slow start but once you get into it its a real page turner. The story line is great! It has crazy links to the pandemic though!! A virus starting in China and then spreading around the word? Seem familiar? p.s. If you are reading this during the pandemic, I hope you have a good day :)

OUTSTANDING
This book is simply amazing! It's sad, funny, exciting, uplifting, everything a book should be and more! Ross Welford is absolutely marvellous. I loved this book so much because everything and everyone has a reason to happen or be and was not just there for the sake of it. I recommend it to anyone who loves lip-biting, fist-clenching, breath-holding excitement as well as books about friendship and loyalty. Tillie 11yrs

Great Read
Very very slow to start and engage my daughter she in fact abandoned it and I carried on reading it. A few books have been slow to begin, except Time Travelling with my Hamster. Still I loved it and who would have thought Ross Welford wrote about a pandemic that we are all actually living through now. I love this author.

Written on behalf of my son. This book is the first Ross Welford book I've finished and I love all four of them, so already you know that you are getting youself into treat. This book is so emontial, funny, fun and just wierd. A must buy, if you think you are up to crying about dogs, and scorpions in vr and just, it is wierd. Trust me. And the scorpion in vr is very worrying. You'll see. I am right.
