The main reason for investing in this kit was to build custom-length Cat5/6 cables for a small Raspberry Pi cluster I am experimenting with. I wanted the cables to run neatly and this seemed like a sensible way to ensure that would be the case. (It is). Overall the kit is very good, but the one minor gripe is that the "trim" blade is too narrow for an 8-pin R45 plug, even though the tool is clearly designed and marked for such use. Here are some pro/con observations...Positive Points1. Everything you need except cable (and a 9-volt battery for the cable tester).2. Simple, well-made case means that you won't lose anything.3. Easy-to-follow instructions. Mostly easy to use (see below).4. Good supply of plug ends and cable shrouds.Negative Points1. The trim blade on the crimp tool itself leaves the Pin1 and Pin8 cables only partially cut - the blade itself is not quite wide enough2. A few more plugs/shrouds would have been niceAs long as you have good eyesight (or a hands-free magnifying glass) this kit is very simple to use and will quickly (10 minutes) turn out Cat5 or Cat6 RJ45 patch chords of exact length (assuming you measure your cable correctly!The single trickiest part of the process occurs after preparing the individual cores to go in to the plug (the order of arrangement is crucial). Tricks are: 1. smooth cables thoroughly first; 2. arrange them under one thumb, for at least 1-1.5 inches, to give you a length to work with; 3. before attempting to slip the cores in to the plug, first use side-cutters to trim all ends to a uniform, parallel cut. This will significantly reduce snarl-ups inside the plug itself. 4. Check cable sequence before crimping down [if you get it wrong you can back them out and re-do]. Plenty of how-to videos on YouTube. Good, solid kit; not difficult to use. Tidy cabling - at last!

This is excellent value for money, and so easy to use, came with excellent instructions.I am usually disappointed with all my purchases on the internet, because it seems that now, nothing ever lives up to the hype. But I have to say I was very impressed with this kit.It comes with everything you could need to get started.I am a self employed computer technician, I bought this kit as i make up Ethernet cables for jobs where i need to setup networks or customers need cables with customized lengths.I don't make cables very often and as such i am always out of practice when it comes to making them.I bought this kit to make it easier and to speed up the process of making the cables.And it filled both of these requirements, so far I have made 6 cables that are 100% tested and working in the time I would normally take to make one.So well worth the purchase.*** Update *** 17/3/19I just wanted to say its been 70 days since my purchase and I'm just as happy with the purchase. Today I used the cable tester that was in the box with the order, I had not used it before because I had an identical tester already that I purchased some time ago which cost half of the price of this set alone. Having now used the tester that was enclosed with this order, I can say I'm even happier now. The tester enclosed is of a much higher quality than the one I bought separately, just when I thought this purchase couldn't get any better.Still Very Impressed

Very happy - HOWEVER, the clip to lock the box was broken. No big deal,I message seller.After photos and explanation of what was broken the seller sent me a couple of new clips he had spare.The rest of the box was fine. He was going to replace the whole box but the clips just did the job - he sent 2 and I only needed one.THANK YOU for listening and your support and for a speedy solution.One thing with the connector boots. They were hard to put on the external CAT 6 cable I had but that was my choice of cable as it is a little bit thicker than standard CAT 6 cable.A little bit of good ol’saliva did the job or could have use vasaline or some other lube if you prefer.As said, the kit it self is great bit of kit.

A complete kit for terminating CAT 6 cables. Hardest part was arranging the cores in the correct order and then feeding them into the connector, but after a while I finally got the hang of it. I will certainly be using this in the future. What is also very useful is being able to download the instructions from the web.

I bought this tool to terminate RJ45 8p8c type connectors on data cables. Using this with feed through connectors made the task very easy. Occasionally the cutter action does not trim all 8 cores of the cable but it is an easy task to trim any stragglers at a later time. 100% success rate from over 30 terminations so far.

A good product

The tool itself works fine but the box was broken when it arrived but not detrimental. The 'stripper' is nigh on useless - it easily damages the conductors if you're not careful with it.

what I dislike is it doesn't cut the wires after crimping as it was supposed to do,
