If you cross the wires when you are setting up this situation can happen. You are basically lighting up 3 primary colors if you cross the lines you can end up lighting the wrong color with the button. Try lighting up just one color at a time and see if the color you get matches the button you are pushing. From that you will learn what wires are going to what colors.
